Musings from an average, middle-aged, lifelong runner. Saturday, March 27, 2010. My idol Scott Jurek and me. So I've finally got a running idol. His name is Scott Jurek and he's an ultrarunner. But what makes Scott Jurek cooler than most is not that he's won those races multiple times, which he has (he won Western States seven consecutive times and Badwater two times). No, I admire two other qualities that Jurek possesses that go beyond his unbelievable endurance - his tenacity and his sportmanship.

Run of the Mill Folk Dance Club, Derbyshire

The Run of the Mill Folk Dance Club. A Wednesday evening at Holloway. We are an English Folk Dance Club, founded in 1979, and based in Holloway in the middle of Derbyshire, a few miles from Matlock, Cromford and Crich. We meet fortnightly on Wednesday evenings. Additionally, we run two Saturday evening dances with a band for music each year, plus an annual costume Playford Ball. We do English dances ranging from the 17th century to new ones written this year, plus the occasional American, contra or square.
