The road not taken. It little profits that an idle king,. By this still hearth, among these barren crags,. Match’d with an aged wife, I mete and dole. Unequal laws unto a savage race,. That hoard, and sleep, and feed, and know not me. I cannot rest from travel: I will drink. Life to the lees; all times I have enjoy’d. Greatly, have suffer’d greatly, both with those. That loved me, and alone; on shore, and when. Thro’ scudding drifts the rainy Hyades. Vext the dim sea: I am become a name;. Well-loved of m...

The road not taken. VFF’s: the lotus pose of running. February 17, 2010. Did you know: allllllll the yoga postures were practiced with ONE objective in mind? It was to be able to sit in the lotus position, all day, every day in the pursuit of enlightenment. I asked one of my teachers once how long is was going to take to be able to sit in lotus for more than a few minutes without discomfort…. So how is it that every 4-year old child on the planet can sit in lotus pose and less than 1% of adults can?

are you looking for me? | two roads diverged
https://andwantedwear.wordpress.com/2011/03/27/are-you-looking-for-me
The road not taken. Are you looking for me? March 27, 2011. Los angeles last weekend. Not mine – but the marathon of others, friends, strangers – it doesn’t matter. i wasn’t running – i wasn’t even officially volunteering – but i wanted to be there. Sometimes i’m not clear why i want things…i’m often looking out the windshield of my life with the wipers on HARD – seeing shapes…but waiting for clarity. i believe in God. the clarity always comes. Here’s the story. She laid her mat beside mine. Not in legs ...

The road not taken. June 20, 2010. Sometimes the content of a tweet cannot be contained in 140 characters. commenting on a blog is ok – but lacks the intention and weight of what i want to say to Ron 1 week from his first Ironman. Ron – first of all – i think it’s funny that you, and all your friends, use the word “first” without having ever heard you mention a desire to do another. Your vision gets MORE clear as you move. the uprights of your horizon grow wider with every step. YOU SHINE IN USE! You are...

https://andwantedwear.wordpress.com/2010/05/02/best-laid-plans-the-eugene-race-report
The road not taken. Best laid plans: the eugene race report. May 2, 2010. The idea was: if i could run a sub 1:50 half marathon…my goal of running a 3:45 in chicago would be realistic. That’s why this race mattered so much to me. I was told that the eugene course was: flat and fast. i had also been told that it’s small town charm was irresistable and that i would somehow be able to channel pre’s spirit and run like a son of gun. Advice from my brother: grip it and rip it. 8:10, 8:07 – fine – ...8:09 ok &...

The road not taken. Dear Graham: thanks for a great run. April 18, 2010. Filed under: long runs. Along the dykes – there are benches. most have been purchased in someone’s memory and they all face the river. if you’re facing the river – you’re also facing the mountains. the view is really unbelievable. the river is dotted with fisherman – mostly fly, and it is one of the most peaceful places i’ve ever seen. 8220;In loving memory of Graham Osygus. 1975-2000. Gone fishing…meet you there”. I’d never n...

The road not taken. September 20, 2010. 8220;Intensity is the price of excellence.”. Who wrote this blog? My God I go back, and review my optimism, my spirit, my emotional fortitude last year and I barely recognize myself. It all sounds like something I’d read. It sounds like a blog I needed. I hope this entry ends up being what I need too. My friend Colin said to me: Chicago might be the last page of the book but that doesn’t make it the whole story. My Boston dream has given me friends – and thei...

BLOOD KNOT: June 2012
http://swingtake.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
The strength of intangibles. June 25, 2012. Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose the former and have seen no reason to change. The worst cynicism: a belief in luck. RULES I (try) to LIVE BY (with) -. Humility, or, more importantly, the ability to simulate it, provides an effective cover in many situations. It is advantageous to master and nurture this facet of your fishing personality early on. Silence is nearly always golden. Well, two, actually.
