Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered you will never grow." Ralph Waldo Emerson. The Maggie’s to Maggie’s Challenge. September 4, 2013. When a Friend of mines, Alan Kennedy (who just finished his first ever Ironman! Congrats) asked me to speak at his new cycling themed cafe in Glasgow on Great Western Road I of course said yes. It was only after I said yes that a thought struck me, what am I going to talk about? The plan is to run between the following places. There comes a...

Monday, January 31, 2011. Feeling the Fear.and Doing it Anyway. A delicious treat at Kim's. I have spent the last week or so marveling at how everything has been manifesting. I feel as if I've been swept up by this giant wave of beautiful forward motion and I can't even remember standing on the shore. But along with that, has come some uncomfortable feelings because THINGS ARE HAPPENING. And they are things I've been wishing and preparing for. Another thing I realized I needed this week was to up being s...

St. John Runner: AFTERMATH

http://stjohnrunner.blogspot.com/2009/03/aftermath.html

Thoughts and views observed on running and living, processed on my runs along the north shore on the island of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Another stellar race on Saturday, highlighted by local running legend Jeremy Zuber's. Consecutive win and weather from the running God's! Well weather for the spectators anyway. A warm morning with sunny skies graced St. John as 800 plus runners traversed Centerline. I ran 1:10:47, 34 seconds slower than the year before. I place 60 th.

St. John Runner: COMPLETION

http://stjohnrunner.blogspot.com/2010/02/completion.html

Thoughts and views observed on running and living, processed on my runs along the north shore on the island of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. Sunday, February 28, 2010. What we do with that gift of sorts varies greatly and make many of us better people and stronger runners. In completing the lesson of a race or run we then get to move on and take the next step or opportunity. It is up to each and every one of us to determine what that will be. Labels: 8 Tuff Miles. Thoughts and views observed on running and living, processed on my runs along the north shore on the island of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Well I did it and finished my first marathon( bib # 1559. Is a smaller marathon with 7,856 finishers in 2008 and a few other smaller runs and walks tied in, and that makes for intimacy in a major event and thus added to its over all charm. Some of the major marathons sell 25,000-45,000 bib numbers! The Expo was well organized and had lots...

St. John Runner: The Beast Within

http://stjohnrunner.blogspot.com/2009/09/beast-within.html

Thoughts and views observed on running and living, processed on my runs along the north shore on the island of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. Saturday, September 5, 2009. Perhaps the most haunting aspect of running is the fear of failure, the lapse of zeal, or just plain ole' athletic neurosis. What must we do to stay motivated? Where do we allow our minds to take us when our ambition to run is weighed down with the garbage we collect in our thoughts and sometimes our bodies? Sloth, that is why. We a...

Runner, Nurse, Wife, Maeve's Mom. September 10, 2011 by Cassie. It’s currently 5:31am and I have completed my run BEFORE work! Whoa, who am I? It was officially hard as heck because I am a hundred times slower in the morning, plus throw the fact in that I’m out of shape from pregnancy and I feel like I ran 10 miles when it was more like 2. Either way I’m happy I pulled my butt from under the sheets to get my fifth day of running in this week. Happy 3-months to my little girl. September 9, 2011 by Cassie.

It was harder than the last few half marathons that I’ve run. This was either because I’ve had some foot pain or because of the recent flu vaccine or maybe having a bit of a virus or cold.
