Tales From the Rural Divide. Procrastinations from a Godless Scotsman. Thursday, May 29, 2008. Picked up my new toy this week. An EeePC. From ASUS. It is a laptop which runs on Linux, has 512mb memory, 4gb hard drive, no CD or DVD, no real graphics and a 7” screen. Why would anyone possibly want one? I’ve connected a Vodafone Mobile broadband dongle. And I’m up and running on the internet anywhere I can get a signal. In theory up to 7mb! It is brilliant for travelling and can be used anywhere.

Tales From the Rural Divide. Procrastinations from a Godless Scotsman. Thursday, May 29, 2008. This keyboard is easy to use. This is the first blog-post from the EeePC. And so it is written on the dinky keyboard. It takes a wee while to get used to but if one takes it slowly then not too many mince-steaks are made. Software is easy to use and anyone using MS Office will be familiar with the setup. There is no real need to buy a full Office suite when this works just as well. I've got a Facebook.

We all saw in the New Year at Charmaines and then crossed the street to Sandra and Jackies for their almost legendary Hogmanay party which coincides with Jackies birthday. The Singstar marathon was eventually ended at about 4.30am and everybody went off to bed happy. Any ideas what to do in Barbados for three weeks other than get a tan?

From a District Hospital in Greenland. May 10, 2010. A discussion on how much health care Greenland needs to provide its population should in my opinion be foremost a discussion on how to provide equal access to health care. Living near Dronning Ingrid Hospital in Nuuk means more doctors, more technology and even more readible access to step-up care in Denmark. This access may be an neccessary advantage for the people living in Nuuk and probably has only a limited effect on whole population survival.
