Before Google There Was BackRub

Friday, December 28, 2007. Before Google There Was BackRub. Google’s precursor in 1996 was called “BackRub,” a search engine research project headed by Larry Page at the computer science department at Stanford. BackRub might have been a reference to the underlying algorithm which counts backlinks as affirmative votes, the same approach that was then turned into PageRank. In August 1996, according to a cached copy of the BackRub engine. I’m using a gray background color as default as the HTML doesn&...

Tony Ruscoe’s Blog: Food, Glorious Food… in Sheffield and Whitby
http://blog.ruscoe.net/2010/09/food-glorious-food-in-sheffield-and.html
Food, Glorious Food in Sheffield and Whitby. We started the celebrations on Saturday night with a meal at Spice Market Cafe (371-373 Ecclesall Road, S11 8PF) which we’d recently discovered was part of the ever-growing Relax, Eat and Drink. Family of restaurants owned and run by award-winning Sheffield restauranteur Richard Smith. ( Artisan. Is another one of theirs which we enjoyed a couple of years ago.). Personally, I loved the Black pudding wontons served with sweet and sour cabbage and apple chutney.

Artisan of Sheffield: Bistrot De Lux. Six years. That’s a long time. Think about what you were doing six years ago. Seems like a long time ago doesn’t it? Well, that’s how long Suzy and I have been going out with each other – and that’s obviously worth celebrating by going out and stuffing ourselves with some top-notch food! Last year, we celebrated five years of togetherness by going to the excellent Supper Club. Which has since changed owners but is apparently. On Sandygate Road in Crosspool, Sheffield.

The Story of a Kit Car Build. This next bit is a bit weird but I swear it’s true! I was due to fit the dash that I’d painted, so I had to fit a washer jet for the screen. Just before I was going to ring a supplier I went into my garage and saw on the bench a brand new washer jet still wrapped in a plastic bag! I don’t know where it came from and didn’t even know I had one anywhere. Weird or what? Electronic Speedo: Part II. Cooling System: Park II. 2005 2012 Roy Dawson ( roy (remove this).

The Story of a Kit Car Build. Anyway, it was the only one I’d seen so I got on with it AFTER(! Agreeing a price with the breakers yard. I once saw someone arguing about the price of some parts with the owner after it had taken him ages to remove, but he wouldn’t budge on his price. (The lads at the yard congratulated me when I went to pay saying they didn’t think I’d get it off! While I’m on the subject of parts for this car, I’d like to ask WHY. Did HALDANE use ball joints from FIATs?

The Story of a Kit Car Build. A large outlay was overdue so I thought it was time I bought some wheels. I'd seen all sorts of special deals in local car accessory shops but the style of most wheels offered wouldn't suit the look of my car, so it was going to be MINILITE. I went to my nearest wheel specialist and asked about the price of them. Him: What are them? We had a look through his catalogue and I pointed them out. Him: I won’t know till Monday. Can you ring me then? Electronic Speedo: Part II.

The Story of a Kit Car Build. Electronic Speedo: Part II. I was interpreting the instructions wrong (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it). It doesn’t use the ‘magnet’ type of pick up, just an earthing type. So full marks to SPEEDY SPARES for their patience with a numpty like me. Electronic Speedo: Part II. The Story of a Kit Car Build. Off with the doors, boot lid, bonnet, windscreen (which was cracked) and any other bits that would make it easier to remove the body from the chassis. All the bolts undone, the three of us heaved and lifted it away. The body was then put away in the back garden and covered up. Well, what else can you do in a back garden? No It looked much better with a car body there instead of grass! Electronic Speedo: Part II. Cooling System: Park II. Website by Tony Ruscoe.
