Books-in-waiting | rushedreader

We used to have a fantastic Borders bookshop just around the corner from work. And for my Tuesday lunchtime treat, I would have a browse around the books. Most Friday afternoons, Simon and I would meet there for a coffee and another browse. And my spending on books was pretty much under control, because it would be easy to get the next book. Almost like a Whale by Steve Jones. Anathem by Neal Stephenson. The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin. Girl Reading by Katie Ward. A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth.

Backlog – the update. September 12, 2013 · 20:26. When God Was a Rabbit, by Sarah Winman. 4 Stars, 2 paws, bedtime reading for lounging in winter… which it nearly is, again. Sigh. It’s been a while, both since I read this book and since I have blogged a proper book review. I’m determined to write reviews faster/shorter, and so clear my slightly epic backlog of books I’ve read in almost the past year. I think I read this one around about last Christmas. Ratings | rushedreader

In the rushed reader spirit, I plan to start each review with some simple rankings. Just as for hotels and restaurants, the basic star rating ranges from zero to 5 stars. There is also a “paw” ranking. One paw if animals are in it, two paws if they play an important role and three paws if it warms your cockles and only old dogs die. These things matter at bedtime! And it gets a bed or a plane tick, depending on where it’s best read. One response to “. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.
