Camp Helping Integrating Guiding Hands Five or Camp H.I.G.H 5 is an interactive three-week summer camp for children between the ages of four and eight with hemiplegia. It is run through the Pediatric Rehabilitation Department at the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in Edison, NJ. Children who attend the camp have been diagnosed with upper extremity hemiparesis due to a diagnosis of brain tumor, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, and stroke. Camp H.I.G.H 5 Information:.

The goal of creating this foundation is to raise funds that would enable more children to participate in Camp H.I.G.H. 5. This camp will significantly change the lives of children who are disabled and will better prepare them for their future. A major reason why children are unable to attend the camp is because of insufficient funding. If our foundation raises enough funding for the camp, more children will be able to attend and experience this life changing experience.

THE STAFF OF CAMP HIGH 5. Is a staff occupational therapist who was been with JFK Pediatric Rehabilitation since 2010. She graduated from Seton Hall University in 2008 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and in 2010 with a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy. She works in both Early Intervention and outpatient and enjoys treating a variety of different diagnoses.

WHAT IS C.I.M.T? Constraint Induced Movement Therapy. Is an intensive, innovative treatment method for children with hemiplegia. It involves the casting of the unaffected, more dominant hand which. Encourages and increases functional movements, as well as the functional use of the affected upper extremity through repetition of fun and functional tasks. Multiple studies have shown the efficacy of this new treatment technique overtraditional therapy methods. (1, 2, 3).
