The Bike | Rutger Myers

This baby is a 1980’s Peugeot. It’s not very fast, but the frame is solid and sturdy. I’ve been maintaining it for about 5 years (it got me through college at the University of Florida). It’s always been dependable, but if there ever is a time to make some adjustments, it is now. Here are some of the changes I made. Bag on the handle bars with new headlights. They're 700c X 28, which is significantly narrower than my old wheels. I really hope they can hold all the gear I am hauling. An End and a Beginning.

Here’s the plan:. I’m going to start in Tampa, FL, my hometown, then go to Gainesville, FL. Then, I’m going follow the Southern Tier Route set out by the Adventure Cycle Association all the way to San Diego, CA. Tampa to San Diego: 3,200 miles. Once I get to San Diego, I’ll make my way up California. I’m planning on visiting to Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite and Redwood on my way up. San Diego to Redwood National Park: 950 miles.
