existential crisis no.636479356 – (t)ruth
https://ruthiebryan.wordpress.com/2016/04/16/existential-crisis-no-636479356
Existential crisis no.636479356. I’m standing here and wishing i could smoke. I quit (i quit! But i miss the habit. It’s such a pity all the rituals we learn and forget. How perfectly gap taught my roommate to fold denim). Cleaning the house is a way to distract myself from the poems i haven’t written. But they’re heavy on me like wet clothes. I was twelve when i got baptized and the river was cold, and i regret. Saying jesuscomeintomyheart because he’s still there and it’s uncomfortable. April 16, 2016.
in my mother’s room – (t)ruth
https://ruthiebryan.wordpress.com/2016/12/02/569
In my mother’s room. The walls of my mother’s room are a delicate pink shade, like the underside of a seashell. When we purchased the paint cans the label read “coffee-with-cream” which suggested to us that the walls would be a sweet balance of beige and brown. I am lying on her bed, and i can’t look at her face because i’m crying. Here we are and once again our words have failed us, have failed at conveying the truth of the thing. There are signs of a future vocabulary. The next coat of paint.
belief – (t)ruth
https://ruthiebryan.wordpress.com/2016/08/09/belief
You said that “sons inherit the sins of their fathers”. And when the sun sets we visit the holy places in your body. We merge our blood (and sweat, and saliva, and cum). Afterwards you search ancestry.com while i fall in and out of sleep. I carry quartz and read our horoscopes and don’t mind you laughing. As I don’t mind that my mother still prays for me. Let us all speak lovingly,. Even if it’s in languages we don’t share,. What counts is the speaking. August 9, 2016. In my mother’s room →.
March – 2015 – (t)ruth
https://ruthiebryan.wordpress.com/2015/03
Monthly Archives: March 2015. In 1998 my father sold everything and moved to russia. Taking us with him as the post-soviet government decided. To cut three zeros off of a thousand to make it one. Tee-se-cha, tee-se-cha, tee-se-cha, gone. My mother searched for a kitchen table to put breakfast on. And had trouble finding one because instead of depositing checks. Everyone was buying furniture: a life saving’s worth of dishes, a pension of chairs. Every day they woke a little poorer then they’d been before.

All my beliefs are being thrown into question by your presence. Afterwards, when i come back to the house my clothes smell like. A combination of kitchen-smoke and pepper. And i am giving myself over to this. I will do the laundry, and take a shower and go to work and still, still. I cannot help it. I cannot help but be moved. January 24, 2017. I am reclaiming the concept of desire. Drawing the blinds towards my past. I rise. i lapse. Anger and forgiveness are part of the same process. January 24, 2017.

Female authors reading list – Word Wabbit
https://wordwabbit.wordpress.com/2015/07/23/female-authors-reading-list
Female authors reading list. Date: July 23, 2015. I recently read an article lamenting the absence of female authors on reading lists. The woman who wrote the article cited two lists by prominent men of our day (I won’t say who), but these men had not included any women authors on their suggested reading lists. That prompted me to think about my own list of female authors, and there are many. Here’s my list. I am sure I have made some embarrassing omissions. Pearl S. Buck. Red Rock Canyon, Nevada.

Writing Advice to Self – Word Wabbit
https://wordwabbit.wordpress.com/writing-advice-to-self-2
Writing Advice to Self. For better of worse, I sometimes think maybe I could write fiction. So my ears perked up when I heard this how-to information on the radio:. Give the reader at least one character she can root for. Every character should want something even if it’s only a glass of water. Every sentence must do one of two things reveal character or advance the action. Start as close to the end as possible. Write to please just one person. Elements of the short story:. Write no more than 10,000 words.

Favorite Books – Word Wabbit
https://wordwabbit.wordpress.com/favorite-books
Seems like a blog on books should include the blogger’s favorite books. These are the ones that come to mind right away. Even though I have read many great books, my favorite books are the ones that I would like to mimic in my own writing or books that I enjoyed and wouldn’t mind reading again. The Thousand and One Nights. The stakes are high: tell a great story or die tomorrow. Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas. By Sandor Marai Incredible suspense. The Dream Life of Sukhanov. The walls of my mother’s room are the delicate pink shade of the underside of a seashell, even though the paint cans at Lowe’s had read “coffee-with-cream”. I lay on her bed, not able to keep from crying, because I’m with her and that’s the only world I cry in. And once again words failed us, didn’t convey the truth of the thing itself. We’re both working hard to match the contents with the title, still looking for a language that would express our essentials. There are signs of a future. December 2, 2016.

I am a software engineer at wave. And automated software testing, and sometimes even automated testing of devops software. I’m also interested in how people learn computer science, and tools that help build conceptual understanding as well as the ability to make things. I graduated from MIT in 2013 with a bachelors degree in Computer Science and a minor in Math. While there I helped organize Splash. And I now volunteer for Learning Unlimited. To help spread Splash beyond MIT. And I love to sing.
