Rod Vaughan began his career as a luthier back in 1976 when, aged 17, he moved from the Scottish Highlands to Birmingham to work for John Birch Guitars, then one of the few established British guitar manufacturers around. After an initial stint in production he became more involved with the repair side of the business, dealing with touring bands such as AC/DC, as well as local lads Slade and Roy Wood.
