Spokane to the Pacific Coast. Spokane to The Coast. We left Spokane with bad weather forecast. Little did we realise what was to come. We rethought our options and decided to set off early on Wednesday to the Columbia George and take what we thought would be an uneventful drive. How wrong we were. We hit the road at 5am with light snow falling and within 20 miles were hitting heavy stuff. St Helens to Manzanita Beach. Current Trip - Jan-March 2012. Spokane to the Oregon Coast. Paso Robles to Refugio SB California. Friday hot and sunny and clear skies. A treat awaited us for breakfast. Gregors smoked Tri-Tip beef sandwich! Paso Robles to Morrow Bay. The short drive took us through vineyards and stunning countryside to Morrow Bay ( See Map. And stunning views of the three islands of Santa Barbara channel, temperature in the shade 80 degrees. after a rest we headed along the coast a short way to Refugio SB. ( See Map. San Mateo to Oceanside California. Sunday hot and sunny and clear skies. A short drive toward San Diego brought us to the peacefully beaches of Oceanside. Watching the pelicans diving into the sea inspired me to have a go. Fishing Licence purchased and a lovely day fishing off the beach, on a lovely sunny day with a cooling light breeze, no fish to report but hopes are high for tomorrow morning! We encountered 2 military check points but were waved through on both occasions.
