Becky's Rwandan Adventure: July 18/19
http://beckysrwandanadventure.blogspot.com/2011/07/july-181920.html
Thursday, July 21, 2011. July 18, 2011. On July 18, our team visited Kibagabaga Hospital. Kibagabaga is still in Kigali, but is outside the city center and has a sort of suburban feel. It has the prettiest grounds of all the hospitals we visited, with well-manicured lawns and greenery. Some of the low-lying bushes were shaped into hearts. July 19, 2011. So a spot was available for me, and I took it. Not sure if this is possible or that something might have been lost in translation. All in all, a great day.

Becky's Rwandan Adventure: July 20/21
http://beckysrwandanadventure.blogspot.com/2011/07/july-2021.html
Friday, July 22, 2011. July 20, 2011. I went to CHUK again on Wednesday. This day, I went to peds in the morning. There was a morning meeting, but Dr. I was not present, and most of it was conducted in French. From the French that I understood, the doctors spent more time talking about hospital admissions policies and the like rather than cases. We had our lunch again at Karibu. July 21, 2011. Alliance for Smiles was all packed up and no longer on location, so we couldn't say goodbye formally to them.

Becky's Rwandan Adventure: Last Days: Sunday July 31, and Aug 1
http://beckysrwandanadventure.blogspot.com/2011/08/last-days-sunday-july-31-and-aug-1.html
Sunday, August 7, 2011. Last Days: Sunday July 31, and Aug 1. Monday, Aug 1 -. We also got to see the mass graves around the churches. Afterwards, we had a one hour lecture on the genocide in the garden. I hadn't gotten very good sleep the night before, so I had to fight to stay awake and to fend off the nausea that I was getting from being there. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thursday, August 18, 2011. Last Days: Goat Roast, August 2, 2011. Mmm, Goat Kebab (Brochette). And ordering us each to riff on the three drums we had set up for him on the ground like a drum set. Also, Anne briefly played Joe's master purchase at the EXPO: a horn that we dubbed the "butt horn" for its odd shape and the resemblance of its sound to, well, passing gas. We left Rwanda happy with our experience and hoping that we would one day be able to come back again. Sunday, August 7, 2011. Monday, Aug 1 -.

Becky's Rwandan Adventure: Lake Kivu/Kibuye // Akagera Park July 24/25
http://beckysrwandanadventure.blogspot.com/2011/07/lake-kivukibuye-akagera-park-july-2425.html
Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Lake Kivu/Kibuye / Akagera Park July 24/25. I've been a bit mum lately because we've been on a bit of a traveling blitz and I've been too tired or busy to update. On Sunday, we set off by bus for the city of Kibuye, on the edge of Lake Kivu. Lake Kivu is gorgeous, and forms a large part of the Western border of Rwanda. It was not an easy ride, and for three hours, we were going 35 km/hr over rather bumpy, switchback-like roads. Entrance to Akagera Park. July 29, 2011 at 2:27 PM.

Saturday, July 30, 2011. July 26, 2011. Next, we walked down the hill from AMU and through the Gikondo (Gee-con-doh) neighborhood to the the boy's homes. I hadn't walked through the narrow alleys that exist between houses in Kigali, so the walk was a new experience for me. We also got to see a smaller, open-air market in Gikondo on the way.
