Planes, Pain, and Automobiles: Mrs. Dalloway - Not a Cornflake Girl

Not a Cornflake Girl. Planes, Pain, and Automobiles: Mrs. Dalloway. May 21st, 2008 at 6:40 AM. Well, I haven't gotten as far into. As I would've hoped. It's taking longer than I expected. Not because it's a difficult read, but the subject matter is heavy. I'm about to cry nearly every other page. When I picked up the book, I assumed the saddening observations would be distanced, as looking into a fishbowl, but rather Woolf throws you into her characters lives. Since Woolf's writing is in a stream of cons...

Not a Cornflake Girl. Magical Me: Branagh and Hamlet. Apr 13th, 2008 at 2:14 PM. At first mention of the name Branagh all I think about is Gilderoy Lockhart in. However, while watching the film, all thoughts of a self-absorbed, mentally challenged, two-faced, ex-Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher escaped my mind. Branagh not only directed a well-thought out version of Hamlet, but also portrayed the character in a fashion that melded alongside my own vision of the moody Prince of Denmark. If I were the...

Not a Cornflake Girl. Created on 2 February 2008 (#14853797). Last updated on 3 September 2008. Puyallup, WA (2005 - 2006). Tacoma, WA (2006 - 2008). This was originally a journal for posting responses to AP prompts and such for 12th grade, but I've decided to make use of the "literary" title and continue to write reviews and opinions on books. Hopefully this won't be a run of the mill review, but something unique with depth. Avatar: the last airbender. Great and terrible beauty. Lord of the rings.

whudafxup: Zeffirelli and Hamlet - Not a Cornflake Girl

Not a Cornflake Girl. Whudafxup: Zeffirelli and Hamlet. Mar 21st, 2008 at 11:48 PM. Back in ninth grade I watched this movie for a History Day Project I was putting together on Shakespeare. At that time I hardly understood what was going on, and had yet been able to pick up Shakespearean language with little difficulty. (By the end of the project, reading Shakespeare became a snap). I remember I was taken aback by the incest, and very confused. Queen Gertrude was the farthest off to me. Glenn Close i...

Not a Cornflake Girl. Planes, Pain, and Automobiles: Mrs. Dalloway [Part 2]. May 26th, 2008 at 7:02 PM. Woo, I needed a new layout, the other was just too dark. Seriously, I feel so much better looking at that then that drab and depressing one. Sure it wouldn't be depressing to anyone else, but oh well. Page seven brings us the overwhelming question of "If? If he were here with me now what would he say? Thought Mrs. Dalloway thinking of Peter (7). What. Say if they were there? A car backfires nearby, and...

Not a Cornflake Girl. No, not the music). May 23rd, 2008 at 10:53 PM. This is Megan typing at the moment) Lindsey and I saw the new Indiana Jones movie this evening and were quite surprised to find it chalk full of allusions/deeper meaning/all that fun stuff. So we decided to do a joint blog discussing some of these things. Moving on from the darkness. We could get into this more, but it would be pretty difficult without giving away too much. Lindsey is now taking control. I have to tell. That Megan got ...

Not a Cornflake Girl. Act One Discussion: It's All Fun and Games Until. Apr 21st, 2008 at 9:06 PM. What would constitute the title? What games are seen in this act? How does it relate to George and Martha’s marriage? In the history dept. vs. being the history dept. Why are George and Martha preoccupied with this? I think it’s colored our whole life (62). Significance relating to the marriage? Biologist vs. Historian life views. What would your ideal society be? How does brandy relate to Honey’s character?

Not a Cornflake Girl. Hamlet 3: A Game of Chess. Mar 19th, 2008 at 11:07 PM. Act 1 Scene 3. This scene doesn't quite make 160 lines, but it would be awkward to include a few lines from another scene. Plus, my lines are way off from the Folger edition. Or is it showing that women in this age do not take the oppurtunity to say "no" to those they must obey. What kind of turn of events would have happened had Ophelia disregarded the advice of Laertes and Polonius? Transylvania - Van Helsing. View my Tags page.

Not a Cornflake Girl. Sep 3rd, 2008 at 4:11 AM. Hm, well despite this originally being an AP blog I think I will continue to use this for everything associating with literature, or I suppose guilty pleasure, non-literary books will work too. Oh the beauty of not getting a lucublog in the begginning and instead sticking with good ol' Livejournal. I'm getting tired of seeing. Quality (even I have qualms with. I mean, Albus Severus? I just listened to. By Scott Westerfeld on audiobook. Wonderful narrato...
