There and back again – Ryan Greenberg
http://www.ryangreenberg.com/archives/2012/06/there-and-back-again.php
There and back again. This is the story of how I stole my bike. Even though I was on a student budget, I knew I wanted a bike to get around. Eventually I found my new steed, a Kona Dew Deluxe. After tax it set me back $706.86, which is a lot of money but I justified the price to myself because my last bike lasted almost 10 years. For 36 days, life was good. Why didn’t I just take the extra minute to use both locks? I filed a police report and walked home despondent. Dear bike thief,. A few hours later I ...
Money money – Ryan Greenberg

Ten Chilean pesos is worth about two cents. No, literally. After awhile you get used to prices, but sometimes you ask yourself, “how much is that in. 8221; Here’s my method: right now. 500 pesos × 2 = 1,000 → $1. 2500 pesos × 2 = 5,000 → $5. 87,000 pesos × 2 = umm, 164,000? Rarr; about $160. If you’re less interested in hearing how to convert Chilean currency and more interested in seeing it, I can do that too:. Larr; How to make a pisco sour. Let it . snow? And currently works as an engineer at Twitter.
The Elqui Valley – Ryan Greenberg
http://www.ryangreenberg.com/archives/2006/06/the_elqui_valley.php
A typical view from the Elqui Valley. I dial the tour agency with a singular goal: to get information on visiting the Islas Damas, where I have read that there are penguins to be seen. 8220;Hola, Ecotours, Ricardo speaking.”. 8220;Hi, I’m interested in your tour to the Islas Damas.”. 8220;Hmm…well, the thing is that the weather isn’t good for that right now. The seas are a little rough.”. 8220;A little rough? 8220;Yeah, you know, six-, seven-foot waves.”. Two chirimoyas, or custard apples. Look inside.
FBI seizes MegaUpload, loses opportunity – Ryan Greenberg
http://www.ryangreenberg.com/archives/2012/01/megaupload.php
FBI seizes MegaUpload, loses opportunity. Last week the FBI seized the file exchange site. MegaUpload through a court order. Previously, users could exchange files too large to email through the service. Now visitors to the site see this message:. Guys, this is embarrassing. Really amateur hour. Seriously, look at this again:. Where have I seen a better looking image? I mean, other than every movie ever made that shows a computer screen? OK, a seal crammed full of text like “National Intellectual R...
Arrangement in Hefeweizen No. 1 – Ryan Greenberg
http://www.ryangreenberg.com/archives/2013/02/arrangement-in-hefeweizen.php
Arrangement in Hefeweizen No. 1. Yesterday afternoon I was out with some friends, having a beer at Jupiter. A restaurant in Downtown Berkeley. As I took a drink, I saw a beautiful colorscape at the bottom of my glass. I looked up and realized the color was a reflection of a billboard on the side of the building, advertising the very hefeweizen I was drinking. I tilted my glass and tried to get a better shot. This one is almost unrecognizable as a glass of beer, but I love the colors. There and back again.
