Ryan Hikes the AT. Sunday, May 2, 2010. Reporting in from Erwin, TN. Mmm Breakfast at the Diner. The biscuits here are the best I've ever had anywhere. Ripple with her third giant Mountain Dew of the day. Lift 'n Step on the firetower. Most foreboding firetower ever. Note the razorwire. Town food on the trail. Cause that's the way I roll. Here's a question for my dad. How come some of the irises don't have as much yellow as some others? This one has less. The previous iris picture has more.

Ryan Hikes the AT. Sunday, May 31, 2009. Finishing biking and back on the Trail. Look The bridge has stalactites. And the road stalacmites. That's Masanuttan (sp.) peak, the mountain I grew up looking at. Mmmm Bed at home. Even the GAS station loves hikers. Top of Mt. Rogers. I had to look a while before I found evidence that I was at the top. No views from the highest Mt. in Virginia. This is a nest I found right beside the trail in the bank. The mom flew out right under my feet. The tame feral ponies.

Ryan Hikes the AT. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. This is the first civilization on the trail. It's a hostel and outfitter where I mailed stuff home. Look carefully at the bunny. I think this means I'm supposed to listen. Morning hiking is the best. There are always plants that grow only right beside the trail.
