Training Axiom | BBC Racer

January 22, 2010 at 10:05 AM Posted in Racing. Gifted with an unusually pleasant winter, I had taken advantage of the weather to develop the famous California Juneuary fitness (I think Hernando coined that term). The weather pattern that pummeled our state this week altered my training. I will train in the rain. I will ride at night. I will even challenge the wind, but when you combine all three, I turtle-up inside. The trainer makes you Tough. We were both wrong. Grinding it out on the trainer build...

Riding not Racing | BBC Racer

April 12, 2010 at 2:55 PM Posted in Racing. Tags: Berkeley Bicycle Club. Pack Fodder Eyewitness Cam. One day I won’t be in position to witness the dumb stuff that goes on in the field. Some day, I’ll actually race on the front instead of wasting my money (and risking my skin) riding as pack fodder. I was a non-teammate as Bender tried heroically to get into a winning move and was too tired when the winning five finally went up the road. If I had been there to cover even one of the moves, perhaps he c...

Sea Otter Circuit – How to Breakaway. April 18, 2010 at 9:37 AM Posted in Racing. Tags: Berkeley Bicycle Club. Finally recorded something (somewhat) interesting. Though not as viewer friendly as a victory by yours truly! I raced the M35 1/2/3 Sea Otter Classic Circuit Race. Going in, I told myself I would rather strike out swinging in an attempt to make the break than to sit in and await the field sprint for the leftovers. With that in mind on the decisive 1.5 laps, they rode with steady pressure up ...

March 16, 2010 at 11:39 AM Posted in Racing. Tags: Berkeley Bicycle Club. Well, it wasn’t that bad, but gratuitous alliteration is always…gratuitous. But it was a weekend full of mental errors. Winters Road Race – E4. Before the road race last Saturday I was thinking a lot about the training rides that the BBC crew did a couple years ago while Wattini was living in Vacaville. The Dr. Wattini sponsored rides shared almost three-quarters of the Winters RR course this weekend and although I had never done the Winters Road Race I had a pretty good sense of what the course would be like. Patterson Pass – M35 4/5. Dylan and I drove out from Berkeley this morning early enough for me to get in a long w...

Reviews | BBC Racer
https://bbcracer.wordpress.com/reviews
Review disclaimers: I’m not a bike professional. I don’t have any test equipment and don’t ride a control test bike to isolate different variables. These reviews are highly subjective, personal and based on seat of the pants observations. With that, let’s get started. The other feature that I love is the ease with which you can change brake pads without tools. As someone who frequently changes between aluminum and carbon rims, this is nice:. Vodpod videos no longer available. In terms of braking performa...
