Round 2: Series Preview MOB vs Saints. March 7, 2009. Posted by Dustin Nielson in Uncategorized. Series Preview: Oil Barons (5) at Saints (1). The Barons blueline was much improved in round one and the return of Stebner will help but it’s still tough to compete with a league MVP on the other side. The Barons have been scoring lately but it’s tough to go against a group of fowards that got the job done all season. As far as coaching goes….it’s tight…Steve Hamilton was the AJHL coach of the...The Oil Baron...

Barons Shock The Saints…. March 8, 2009. Posted by Dustin Nielson in Uncategorized. Needless to say the Oil Barons come from behind victory on Saturday night was one of the games I will remember for the rest of my life. Trailing 3-0 heading into the 3rd and for the most part being dominated through 40 minutes the Barons mustered up a 3rd period like nobody before them. No comments yet — be the first. March 8, 2009. Posted by Dustin Nielson in Uncategorized. First of all the goal that tied the game at 4…I decided….despite earlier posts about how horrible The Warriors was….to use the main line from the movie as a goal call…I wanted to save it until just the right moment and when Dubetz lit Rolheiser up I felt it was necessary. Dakota Dubetz: CAN YOU DIG IT. Then the tying goal….I was just so in shock that a yelled Johnson’s name so loud that I lost my voice…a beauty. Kyle Johnson….Kyle Johnson.

Season Done…MOB lose 3-1…. March 14, 2009. Posted by Dustin Nielson in Uncategorized. The Barons once again put themselves in a position to win on Friday night but as was the story of the series Spruce Grove capitalized on their chances. After being out played for 40 minutes and having Steven Legatto steal the show the Barons were down 1-0 heading into the 3rd. Once again the MOB dominated the 3rd period and managed to tie the game at 1 just past the midway point of the period. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Powerless Power-play Hampers MOB In Loss…. March 11, 2009. Posted by Dustin Nielson in Uncategorized. The Oil Barons power-play gave up a short handed goal and went 0 for 10 on Tuesday night in Game 3 on their way to a 5-1 loss. The difference in the game was an inability to finish off opportunities by the Barons who actually ended up out shooting the Saints 37-36 and held the Saints to just 16 shots over the final two periods of play. I had a chance to catch up with Captain Michael Perry after the game.
