Hello, Mister Lady. A feminist perspective on the world around me coupled with scintillating commentary on my oh-so-fabulous life. Saturday, May 3, 2008. I’m not so sure how to feel about Heston Blumenthal’s In Search of Perfection. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the show, in each episode, Blumenthal, a world-renowned chef, tries to perfect one popular dish. Things he’s tried in the past include the perfect burger, the perfect baked. The perfect chicken tikka masala, and the perfect trifle.

Hello, Mister Lady. A feminist perspective on the world around me coupled with scintillating commentary on my oh-so-fabulous life. Sunday, August 31, 2008. What would bell hooks do? In what feels like a Christmas miracle in August, I have been offered a college English class to teach this fall. Although only finding this out about 3 weeks ago and being faced with a course that in some ways is a little daunting, I’m feeling remarkably sane and calm about it all. It’s time to walk the walk. Despite my damn...

Hello, Mister Lady. A feminist perspective on the world around me coupled with scintillating commentary on my oh-so-fabulous life. Saturday, June 7, 2008. Is George Michael Polish? There really is nothing like waking up at 10 am on a Saturday morning to the sound of George Michael’s greatest hits blasting out of the Polish Catholic seniors’ home across the street from where you live. You’d think that living across from a bunch of senior citizens would translate into a whole lot of quiet. So, I decided to...

Monday, May 08, 2006. Physique. In 10 years' time, we'll all owe a debt to Jenny for making the ocean more Vogue-friendly - that is, if those rascals at the WWF and Peta can keep their vegan noses out of this and finally put beauty before politics. Hello, Mister Lady. A feminist perspective on the world around me coupled with scintillating commentary on my oh-so-fabulous life. Friday, February 13, 2009. So, it's been a while. When you don't write in your blog for, like, five months, it's pretty obvious that you run the risk of losing what few readers you might have had to start with. Hello? Is anyone still there? Voice echoing in the distance.). I have been stupidly busy since the beginning of September. Have absolutely learned my lesson. What is i...

Saturday, March 25, 2006. There have been about as many theories about why socks go missing after laundering as there are creation myths, so I thought I would take this opportunity to illustrate. What really happens: you are being visited by the dryer monster. Now, the dryer monster is only interested in socks, and prefers singles to pairs. Its tongue is quite swift, like the wings of a hummingbird, and for this reason goes undetected. What does it look like? Posted by Dan at 8:11 PM. Alas, there are man...

Monday, March 31, 2008. Here I am obviously paying homage to two great works of art: the Munch painting. And the Macaulay masterpiece Home Alone. Both pieces perfectly capture that dark night of the soul, where one must battle their inner demons or bumbling burglars shaped like Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. I was disappointed that Macaulay wasn't in the third installment of Home Alone (couldn't they just digitally remove the five-o'clock shadow? Posted by Dan at 8:24 PM. Thursday, March 13, 2008. Saturday, February 18, 2006. This is a still from my Flash animated film Battle of the Senses. The lips represent the sense of taste. The guitar represents the sense of.guitar, I guess. The guitar is actually sidekick to the lips. Together they sing a song to wreak havoc on the sense of sound, represented by the ear. Hopefully I'll figure out how to get this 'toon on a website soon so I can share it. Posted by Dan at 9:39 PM. Sunday, February 05, 2006. Posted by Dan at 9:16 PM. View my complete profile.

Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Illustration Friday: Glamour (Lumberjack chic). When all the elite mags are compelled to come up with the most glamorous woodsman of them all, there is no contest. It is the lumbering lumberjack. And the toque.Let us never forget the toque. Stunning in its simplicity, this red and black wonder is pure drama. It protects Jack from the sun and the wind and the chipmunks, all the while accentuanting his perfectly oval head. A 10. Posted by Dan at 6:22 PM. Tuesday, January 24, 2006.
