Luke was unable to break sentences into phrases which speeds up reading rate. Listening helped Luke hear these phrases. The tutor read to Luke each tutoring session and Luke listened to reading on tape. Both of these experiences helped him become aware of phrasing. 4 Some of the researchers we’ve read about in class were quoted, Adams and Ehri just to name a few.

The teacher flashes words and pronounces the word and the child repeats. This goes on repeatedly until the child memorizes the words. B Phonics instruction centers around letter sounds.
