Teens coping with Type 1 Diabetes. The Aspects of coping with Adolescent Type 1 Diabetes. They felt that their friends treated them differently after they were diagnosed with diabetes and that they couldn’t do the same things as their friends. Having to be always thinking about their blood sugar was a burden and they would get depressed. They felt embarrassed about giving insulin or testing their blood sugar in front of their friends and admitted not doing it because the did not want to be different.
