There isn t much to say about this engine as far as my ownership and work is concerned, it s nearly an as purchased. I purchased this engine from a college at work for no more reason than to save it from deteriorating in the garage of a person who didn t want it, when I got the engine it was free standing (not on a trolley or anything) with no exhaust. I received this engine as a gift in a sorry state. It had been in a really hot fire and was quite rusty. All the bearings had melted out and the resulting ingot was in the bottom of the case/frame ( I made bearings from phosphor bronze. This engine was purchased by my brother-in-law as a project with a mind to convert it to a hot tube gas engine from spark ignition engine, it was tested on 29/07/1920 and supplied to Brown and Son Barnoldswich on 09/08/1920. Its last use was nothing more than a bearing for a transfer shaft. Between to other pieces of machinery (awful waste of such an engine). I received this engine. As a gift after having stood in a museum for around fifteen years, it was less an exhaust and without trolley and what I would say was a nearly running state.
