Sufficiently crazy in Southbridge. Life in our weed-and-junk-filled, chicken infested safehaven…with a fair bit of knitting thrown in! Laquo; Rhiannon is one today…. Finding my spinning mojo…. March 1, 2009. Well, I’m trying too. First attempt back at the wheel in nearly two years, and it’s amazing how fumbly/stumbly I felt. It took me at least 1/2 an hour to just get it all up and running again after having been *played* with by Stella time and time again! Posted in Life in general. Finding my spinning ...

Sandra's garden: April 2009

Not high tech, not high spec. One woman's journey outside of nappies and dishes and into tulips, borlotti beans and compost recipes. Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Letters from Wetville - new blog. It seems time for a spruce up, a tighter focus. Or something. I feel like my blog has become a bit like parts of my garden. Sprawled out with weeds everywhere. No longer with a clear function. So this is my attempt at a slightly altered direction. Saturday, April 4, 2009. While I had the gardening window, I also weed...

Not high tech, not high spec. One woman's journey outside of nappies and dishes and into tulips, borlotti beans and compost recipes. Friday, August 29, 2008. I just entered the NZ Gardener get growing. I also remember going to that same creek with my brother and Grandad and catching eels. Hoping to take my own children up there to play next school holidays. Thursday, August 28, 2008. Yesterday I bought a new knife. It is made in China by Kuhn Rikon who originally hail from Switzerland. It is very...I mad...

Not high tech, not high spec. One woman's journey outside of nappies and dishes and into tulips, borlotti beans and compost recipes. Saturday, February 28, 2009. When we awake tomorrow it will be autumn. The signs have been around us as we rise in the dark on work mornings, wear an extra layer until mid-morning, have shrinking gardening time after dinner. A treat tomorrow will be eating field mushrooms, picked about 30km north of us and brought as a gift by dinner guests. Catcher in the Rye. Out of the l...

To freeze or not to freeze is a discussion we seem to have at least every year at my place. Do we need a chest freezer? No Would a chest freezer be very useful? Yes Can we afford one right now. No. So I guess we'll shelve that one until next year. And hope she forgets about the area. Intestinal flora is getting the good treatment. I made some bee...

Thursday, March 29, 2007. Both Isabelle and Aidan are fairly good with their words, making only a few errors in pronunciation. For some reason, Aidan sometimes says "sh" rather than "s" (which makes reading Hairy Maclarey Sit. The other day in the car Isabelle was playing her version of "I spy", which uses the sound a letter makes rather than the name of the letter (phonics anyone? So "sh" is for shoe, "k" for car, etc. Anyway, she said:. I spy something beginning with "w" ". No, it's below us! What fina...

It conjures two images for me. Firstly of some incredibly sexy French woman from a James Bond movie. Or secondly when I think of 'provocateur' I think of the history of the seedy Soho area in Inner London, the Seven Dials and the prostitutes who propositioned. Forum: The legacy of neo-liberalism. Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Orla is three weeks old today and was 2.95 kilos at her last weigh-in on Monday. It feels as though she is emerging from prematurity into newborn-ness. We no longer have to time her feeds during the day (nor at night, providing that there is no more than 4 hours between feeds of course Orla has been waking through the night at 3 hours on the dot! She has grown out of one of her little quintuple zero outfits. When she is awake, she is very interested in her surroundings. Emily...
