How many vedas are there to learn? There are four vedas. They are Rig, yajur, sama and Atharvana vedas. What is the importance of Yajur veda? Yajur veda tells about the yagnas to be conducted addressing the different gods and the procedures as well as mantras to be recited while performing the yagnas. How many types of Yajur veda are there? There are two types of Yajur vedas. One Shukla yajur veda and another Krishna Yajur veda. Where was Krishna Yajur veda practiced?

The Krishna Yajur ved mainly consists of Tatriya shaka as it is presently taught. This in turn consists of Samhitas - The basic text - this consist of seven books/kandas. After Samhitas comes the Brahmanas that elaborate the samhitas and explain the ritual contained in that. The Brahmanas consist of three kandas. Then comes the Aranyakas - this consists of seven prashnas/valli. There are separate Relevance for different disciplines. Shri Sai Kumar Shashtri, a resident teacher who hails from Kanchipuram.
