Warning Signs After Delivery. Not ready to be a parent. Afraid to tell anyone you are pregnant. We are here to help. There is a life-saving option for you and your baby. Every state has a "safe haven" law. Although they vary a bit from state to state, these laws make it possible for you to leave your unharmed newborn in a safe place no questions asked. In Wisconsin, a parent can safely surrender their unharmed newborn up to 72 hours old with any firefighter, police officer, EMT or hospital employee.

Safe Place for Newborns. Give Your Baby a Chance. Washington State law allows a parent to leave their unharmed newborn, up to 3 days old, with an employee at any hospital, staffed fire station or Federal Designated rural health clinic in the state during its hours of operation. Tell the employee you want to leave your newborn as a "Safe Place Newborn." Your baby will be given any needed medical attention, then placed in foster care for adoption. When you are afraid, it's easy to think you're all alone.
