Saturday, June 18, 2011. I've been pretty miserable for the past week. My manager called me 7 days ago and told me he was scheduling me for night stocking. That's what I've been doing since Sunday. Apparently they are extremely desperate for night stockers. Stocking requires very little skills or training. I start at midnight and finish at about 8 AM. The only good part is that the store closes at 1 AM so I don't see very many customers. The bad part is the shift goes by very slowly.

Tuesday, May 24, 2011. I never realized how cheap people were before I was a checker. At least 50 times a day customers yell at me and say, "HEY the shelf said that was 20 cents cheaper! Or "Those are supposed to be buy one get one free." Most of the time, the items ring up correctly after they enter their Safeway card and I press the total key. I wish the computer would put all the deals in before I press the total key so I wouldn't have to be bitched at during every transaction. June 25, 2011 at 2:18 PM.

Sunday, May 29, 2011. Courtesy Clerks: A Rare Moment of Not Complaining. I really spend a lot of time here complaining. However, I would like to dedicate this post to expressing my appreciation and recognition of the fact that my job could be so much worse. I could be a courtesy clerk. Also, they have to clean the store, the nastiness part being the public restrooms. For anyone who hasn't seen the inside of a Safeway bathroom, just imagine what an exploded porta-potty would do to the walls and floor.
