Hearts to Homes Meets. Every Wednesday from 12 to 2 pm. Every Thursday at 1:00 pm. Worship in the Park. Worship at the Church: 10:00 am. Holy Communion served on the first Sunday of each month. July and August services are 9:00 am Church in the Park at the Alpena Band Shell and 10:30 a.m at the church. Worship at the Church: 10:00 am. Daniel Carter built the first permanent house in the village of Fremont in 1857 and within a year a Bible class of five persons met in this home with Mr. J. K. Miller as teacher. The name of Fremont was changed to Alpena on February 29, 1859. The first Protestant ministers to preach in Alpena were Rev. T. G. Potter and Rev. Samuel Bird of the Methodist Episcopal Church who preached in June 1860. Services were conducted in the courtroom over the Miller, Fletcher and Co. store. The church was sold to the P...
