The Abts in New Zealand: North Coast of the South Island
http://uofcanterburytales.blogspot.com/2008/02/north-coast-of-south-island.html
The Abts in New Zealand. Sunday, February 3, 2008. North Coast of the South Island. Saturday— Heading North. About 20 kms out of Motueka. Sunday—Seeking the beach scene. With a choice of exploring north or south of the farm, we chose north and headed out the end of the road at Farewell Spit. Which got it’s name from Cape Farewell, the last place in NZ Captain Cook saw before he sailed back to Britain. Captain Cook played a big role in NZ history and our week. That kept him from lifting his head, he was u...

The Abts in New Zealand: On the Road to Auckland
http://uofcanterburytales.blogspot.com/2008/04/on-road-to-auckland.html
The Abts in New Zealand. Saturday, April 19, 2008. On the Road to Auckland. We left Christchurch at 6:00AM on April 15th so that we could catch the 1:15PM ferry from Picton to Wellington. It seemed fitting that Marlborough Sound would be our last view of the South Island. We had two great sailing trips there and it's one of our favorite places. The ferry ride was uneventful. We made it off the ferry to our room with a great view by 5PM. April 23, 2008 at 10:04 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Abts in New Zealand: It's just not cricket.
http://uofcanterburytales.blogspot.com/2008/02/its-just-not-cricket.html
The Abts in New Zealand. Tuesday, February 26, 2008. It's just not cricket. Summer in NZ is cricket season, and we thought we'd try to learn a bit about it when we arrived. We tried to follow the game in the newpapers, but."trapped leg before wicket for a duck"? It's a strange game. The Test Matches can last up to 5 DAYS, allowing time for afternoon tea of course. The more popular forms, One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20, are usually finished in a single day. Abby says if you look really close, yo...

The Abts in New Zealand: December 2007
http://uofcanterburytales.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
The Abts in New Zealand. Monday, December 31, 2007. New (Zealand, Year, House). Some holiday traditions have changed, no football or really any news about U.S. sports. Cricket, Black Caps vs. Bangladesh, has been the big news here. One of our New Year's resolutions is to figure out cricket (we're punting on rugby). If you're interested, here's some links to NZ car options:. Holden (GM, check out the VE ute). Mitsubishi (check out the i-car). Ford (check out the Falcon ute). Check out the Odyssey). After ...

The Abts in New Zealand: May 2008
http://uofcanterburytales.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
The Abts in New Zealand. Saturday, May 3, 2008. We had three days in California and despite being a whirlwind tour (3 houses in 3 days) it was great. Special thanks to Jody who drove down to pick up at LAX, hosted us the first night, loaned us her new car for our first "right" driving in 6 months and was tour guide on the best Disneyland trip we've ever had. The Abts in New Zealand. Monday, April 14, 2008. Last Day on Campus. What better place to remember which side of the road I'm supposed to drive on than LA? On the 26th we leave California and fly to Raleigh. Hopefully you'll see some North Island posts over the coming days. Cheers, Bob. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). SV Aquila, our other adventure. The Abts in New Zealand: Penguins and dolphins and moorings, oh my
http://uofcanterburytales.blogspot.com/2008/03/penguins-and-dolphins-and-moorings-oh.html
The Abts in New Zealand. Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Penguins and dolphins and moorings, oh my. Another Holiday, another charter. Our lives here are tough. This time we took along some friends, Euan and Carolyn and their two children Katherine and Annie. Even trapped on a small (35 feet is small for seven people) boat, it was a great adventure. We had a beautiful sunset, after we'd chased some interlopers off the Charterlink mooring, and had Euan serenade the sun down. Then Bob and I got Astronomy 101...

The Abts in New Zealand: Feeling Down Under
http://uofcanterburytales.blogspot.com/2008/01/feeling-down-under.html
The Abts in New Zealand. Friday, January 25, 2008. You haven’t seen or heard much from us lately. I think there’s been a convergence of post-holiday doldrums, isolation, grey skies, and bad news about pets that have taken some of the wind from our sails. That reminds me, lack of sailing is another issue. Next week we’re going sailing in Marlborough Sound, wish us fairer winds and fewer AFGOs. Cheers - Bob. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Abts in New Zealand: Southern California

I have been visiting various blogs for my dissertation. August 11, 2010 at 8:25 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Photo Page with Map Links.
