October 31, 2009. Instructor's try outs Day 1. Distance logged to date:. 170 nm / 78 hrs. Singled handed sailing try outs and Collision regulation exam. Docking on a bigger boat and Basic Cruising exam. I was not expecting to write any exams! Here is my check list I prepared at home:. Line to tie a tiller for autopilot. If outboard has a broken bolt - tie it up with a line to prevent swinging. Preset main (halyard is connected and on a winch, slides in the mast). Have winch handlers ready. 170 nm / 78 hrs.
