Days ago, had a good sail north, through Bring Strait, crossed Arctic. Circle, then we got caught in a large concentration of ice 30-40 miles. Off Cape Wainwright (from 8/10 to 3/10) and spent about eight hours. Extricating ourselves. We eventually made it to Point Barrow early this. Morning, Thursday. As the ice forecast along the Alaskan coast looks. Marti...

Sailing Around the World: April 2014
http://www.sailingamara.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 24, 2014. And they're off. FINALLY! On Monday, AMARA was set to leave "Boat Works" (the marina where AMARA had been docked) in Brisbane and head to the Whitsunday Islands only to find that the generator wouldn't start. The troubleshooting session begins. Well, kind of. AMARA set sail Tuesday evening, once the generator was fixed, and continued sailing the 700nm toward the Whitsunday Islands. AMARA's Crew. Sue, Tamrika, John, David and Martin. Today, AMARA motored up the Great Sandy Straig...
Sailing Around the World: January 2015
http://www.sailingamara.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Heading Home from Antarctica. Everyday my morning routine is getting on my computer and tracking where Martin is on the boat in Antarctica using the online tracking system provided by the boat. It is so fun to follow it and know where he is. From looking at the photo above, you can follow the dotted lines seeing that the boat left Ushuaia, Argentina, sailing across the Southern Ocean, eventually reaching Antarctica. I love modern technology. LOVE it! Thursday, January 15, 2015.
Sailing Around the World: August 2015
http://www.sailingamara.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 24, 2015. I got a text from Martin this morning and the boat is now docked and they are in Nuuk, Greenland! Now to get him home. Sunday, August 23, 2015. Aventura's route while crossing the Arctic Circle. Early this morning, Martin sent me a text saying that they had officially crossed the Arctic Circle. This is important because many judge a Northwest Passage crossing to be successful, only if they have crossed the symbolic gateway. They have officially sailed 3728 miles. WOW! Martin repo...

Martin's High Adventures: Martin Summits Everest! (29,035 ft)
http://teamendurance.blogspot.com/2011/05/success-martin-touches-summit-yes.html
Friday, May 20, 2011. Lily, Meredith and I are celebrating in Utah! After 51 long days, Martin made it to the Summit of Mt. Everest! The climb for the Summit took him just 6.5 hours after leaving Camp 4 to make it to the Top of the World. Martin lingered at the Summit long enough to take a few photos, bask in some magnificent scenery, give his teammates some hugs, and relish in what he had personally accomplished. I love that they had the Summit to themselves–if just for a little while. I need to have so...

Tuesday, May 10, 2011. No word from Martin or his expedition today. It’s still early, so I am not too concerned. Martin’s expedition, Himalayan Experience (Himex.com), does a great job in keeping the climber’s families updated on the latest information through their dispatches. So, no news is good news, right? Facts and Figures for Rope Fixing on Mount Everest—2011:. 8226; A total of 8,000m (26,246 ft) of fixing rope was brought to Everest this year. 8226; Himalayan Experiennce/Himex (9 sherpa), Peak Fre...
Martin's High Adventures: Safe Arrival to Camp 3—Everyone is Strong!
http://teamendurance.blogspot.com/2011/05/safe-arrival-to-camp-3everyone-is.html
Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Safe Arrival to Camp 3—Everyone is Strong! Below is the famous "5 ladders bound together" that Martin had to cross for the 5th time. I believe it started out as just 4 ladders lashed together in Martin's earlier posts. I pilfered this photo off the teams site-as they just posted it of the team crossing it this morning. Charlotte, you may want to close your eyes. Himex team crossing the 5 ladders bound together. In the Western Cwn. Between Camps 1 and 2. Big hopes for them all.

Martin's High Adventures: Get Busy Living...
http://teamendurance.blogspot.com/2011/05/get-busy-living.html
Monday, May 9, 2011. The push for the Summit begins! Martin with Matt and Alan. All three will attempt the Summit. Matt is from Perth, Australia and Alan is from Colchester, UK. Well, we have some exciting news! Martin didn’t forget Mother’s Day and gave me a quick call yesterday to tell me the exciting news. Naturally, I literally dropped everything (I was running out the door for church) and started taking copious notes of his schedule for the next week or so. Are you hydrated enough? 8220;We leave ton...
Martin's High Adventures: Camp 4—Ready and Waiting for a Summit Bid

Martin's High Adventures: Summit Day
http://teamendurance.blogspot.com/2011/05/summit-day.html
Saturday, May 21, 2011. Tashi Chhiring, Martin Frey and Jim Holliday. At the Top of the World! On the evening of May 19, we woke up at 10:30pm to get ready for our summit departure at 12:15am. It is amazing at 26,000 feet how long the simplest of tasks takes you to perform. My anxiety was enhanced by the cold. All the preparation and everything that we worked for over the last 2 months came down to how I performed once I stepped foot out of the tent. You made it to the Balcony in 3 hours! While at the Su...
Martin's High Adventures: The Mental Side to Climbing
http://teamendurance.blogspot.com/2011/05/mental-side-to-climbing.html
Saturday, May 14, 2011. The Mental Side to Climbing. The Thinker—Khumbu Icefall is to Martin's left. Everest weather is difficult even in the best of times. 2011 has redefined difficulty. It has especially been hit hard with very harsh and COLD weather one moment, only to break in to sunny and scorching the next. A bit of a two-step dance deciding whether to go or not to go— I’m sure the climbers are ready to switch dance partners with Mother Nature right about now. The stories Martin will be able to tell.
Martin's High Adventures: April 2011
http://teamendurance.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 28, 2011. Quickly… What a great surprise today to hear from Martin this evening! Leave it to Martin to pull out the satellite phone and call to let me know that he made it to Camp 2 safely and free from injury (He knows how I worry). Breakfast this morning at 2:30 am. Martin is wearing green. And has the orange helmut on in this picture. The team preparing to leave BC at 3 am. Again, Martin. Is in the orange helmut and green jacket on the right. He said it was too early to tell and that t...
