May | 2011 | Sailing Faster

HOw aM I GoINg tO Sail tHAt LaSer FASTER? Sailing in 18-20 knots with 25 knots gusts. May 17, 2011. Here is what I learned:. 1 to tack in those conditions, go fast, tack quick so you don’t end up in irons, bearing off before the tack can help speeding up the boat. 2 to round the leeward mark, hike like hell after the gybe or risk a capsize. 3 to gybe, go at max speed then trim-trim-pump (ok I haven’t done this but that’s the gospel I’ve heard). Now for how I learnt that stuff:. As per that previous post.

Hiking forward for speed and pointability | Sailing Faster

https://sailingfaster.wordpress.com/2011/08/22/hiking-forward-for-speed-and-pointability

HOw aM I GoINg tO Sail tHAt LaSer FASTER? How to start – part 1. No more tangles while tacking. Hiking forward for speed and pointability. August 22, 2011. BIG SHOCKER, as I angled my body to really point as forward as possible (see the diagrams) The tiller extension was just resting on my hand, no need to push/pull on it as I’ve done since I started sailing the laser. This new position is also more comfortable for my legs. My usual upwind position - fighting the tiller all the way to the windward mark.

HOw aM I GoINg tO Sail tHAt LaSer FASTER? How to start – part 2 – The Trigger Pull. September 27, 2011. One tactical aspect of a good start is bringing the boat from stand still to top speed. As fast as possible. In this post I’ll be looking at how to bring about that desired result from a technical/tactical standpoint. How do good laser sailors start their race? That’s from the laser training manual. The idea is to go on a deep close reach, speed up, then head up. To stay in place before the start:.

Capsize at the windward mark | Sailing Faster

https://sailingfaster.wordpress.com/2011/08/27/capsize-at-the-windward-mark

HOw aM I GoINg tO Sail tHAt LaSer FASTER? No more tangles while tacking. Sailing barefoot : better feel, seamless tan. Capsize at the windward mark. August 27, 2011. Going downwind I did not place my aft leg around the strap, my forward leg was next to the dagger board as per post. So both my legs where on the same side of the cockpit. Place my aft leg around the strap while sailing downwind. Doing this guarantees that my leg is properly positioned under the strap after the gybe/heading up.

Sailing Downwind – Body position | Sailing Faster

https://sailingfaster.wordpress.com/2011/05/15/sailing-downwind-body-position

HOw aM I GoINg tO Sail tHAt LaSer FASTER? Daggerboard in the water. Wind indicator – I don’t know how to use it, but it looks great. Sailing Downwind – Body position. May 15, 2011. Ok, can you believe it third tip from Vlad, when it rains it pour. Ok so going downwind I must. A move my whole body forward, move my forward leg outside of the cockpit, next to the daggerboard. I tried that yesterday,. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.
