S/V Remember Me Cruising Mexican Waters

S/V Remember Me Cruising Mexican Waters. Sunday, January 8, 2017. Our 4th Season Begins. Hot, Hot, Hot in Mazatlan! Kim and Douglas cooling off in the very warm Pacific Ocean. At some point I'd love to find the time to take Spanish lessons by the pool, and maybe join in on the water aerobics too. Some members of our 5k morning walking group. Tom, Andy, Joanne, Donna, Sandy, Lane, Vicky, Jackie, Jan and Douglas. Our walking group changes from day-to-day as people come and go. Such a sweet ferrel cat.

S/V Remember Me Cruising Mexican Waters. Tuesday, March 1, 2016. A vacation from our vacation? On February 18th we left Mazatlan to go on an adventurous 5 day and 4 night road trip with our dear friends, Bob and Bev. We stayed 2 nights in San Blas, 1 night in La Cruz, then on the way back another night in Chacala, all in the state of Nayarit. We had a great time! Was pretty cool and a highlight of our trip. Bob, Bev, Douglas and Jan in front of our Hotel in San Blas. Municipal Hall in the town square in ...

S/V Remember Me Cruising Mexican Waters. Sunday, October 19, 2014. Our 2nd Season in Mexico Begins! 160;Douglas has a very comfortable bed in the backseat of the Truck . We have settled back into life here nicely. Kim and I had haircuts at Gabbys Salon then I had a pedicure too.  Total cost was 240 pesos (about $19 Canadian) which included washing my hair and putting a braid in it afterwards.  Douglas was welcome at the Salon and received lots of attention from the staff too. S/V Remember Me Cruising Mexican Waters. Sunday, March 29, 2015. Our 2nd Season in Mazatlan is Winding Down. On February 13th we had a torrential downpour. It rained hard for a couple of hours which caused some areas to flood. When it rains here it really rains, but it was still very warm. The sky opened up and it rained hard. Crowds filled the Malecon for the parade. One of the many floats in the parade. Marilyn and Gary at El Cuchapetas. Kim and Douglas enjoying the Juarez Flea Market. We left the dock...

http://sailingvesselrememberme.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html

S/V Remember Me Cruising Mexican Waters. Wednesday, February 17, 2016. Out and About in Mazatlan. This is our 3rd trip to Mexico and as you can well imagine, there are some things that we see that are out of the ordinary from what we experience at home. Here are just a few examples:. How many people will fit in the bed of a Pick-up Truck? Typical catch of the day. Excessive noise is something you have to get used to here as well. All events seem to be conducted at full volume, no matter what they are.

Kialoa cruising: December 2014

http://kialoa.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, 25 December 2014. We arrived in Cabo San Lucas on Dec 21. The first day of winter, and went snorkeling the same day, no wet suit necessary! I realized at that moment that this was what I had spent all those long cold winter nights dreaming of, I am so incredibly grateful to be where I am living this life that I have dreamed of. This one was very tasty! Luckily no damage was done by this hitchhiker.it was on. Top of the windex at one point. A quiet moment on the way to Cabo San Lucas. I thought ...

Kialoa cruising: April 2015

http://kialoa.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 22 April 2015. On our way back to BC. Santa Rosalia is a bit of an anomaly in Mexico, founded by a french mining company in 1884 in order to exploit the deposits of copper in the area, the town was built out of lumber imported from the Pacific Northwest. It gives the town a very different feel to anywhere else we have been where cement block is the building material of choice. Our cozy quarters in San Carlos. San Carlos has some very dramatic scenery. A couple of them! Guaymas harbour is quite...

Kialoa cruising: October 2014

http://kialoa.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Friday, 24 October 2014. All the way to Morro Bay. The trip from Monterey to Morro Bay was uneventful, we left Monterey midday and had about an hour of lovely sailing weather before the wind got so light that we were only moving about two knots and the sails were slopping all over. So we motored once again……people say that you will be surprised at how much motoring you do when cruising and we are indeed surprised! On the approach to Morro Bay, Morro Rock stands at the entrance. The entrance to Morro Bay ...

Kialoa cruising: August 2014

http://kialoa.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, 31 August 2014. Newport has an big imposing bridge, lots of sea lions, and an interesting waterfront area. It is also home to the Rogue Brewery, a well known Oregon Beer. The sea lions get their own dock at the Newport waterfront, it is noisy and smelly and fascinating. So cute at 800 lbs! They also take over the breakwater. Newport has abundant fresh seafood. And whether it is guilt or gluten free it is. Cool bridge in the fog. Wednesday, 27 August 2014. Mal de Mer and unexpected pleasures.

It is ordered and should be here in mid june and in the meantime we will continue with the myriad of other projects. We look forward to more moments like this. S/v The Red Thread.

Kialoa cruising: January 2015

http://kialoa.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 7 January 2015. At long last La Paz. San Jose del Cabo, the town square ready for xmas. We had a lovely Christmas Eve dinner with the crews of Adagio and Namaste in Puertos Los Cabos, a traditional meal of Pizza and barbequed Marlin. That was my first time eating Marlin and it was fantastic! Saying good bye to Josh, I think the big grins are from the. Christmas on the beach with Namaste and Adagio. One advantage of a smaller boat is that the ospreys. Of the taller masts! Party in a parking lot!

Kialoa cruising: Oh the places we have been!

http://kialoa.blogspot.com/2015/04/oh-places-we-have-been.html

Monday, 6 April 2015. Oh the places we have been! Since the end of January we have been cruising at a very relaxed pace. We are where we want to be and it has been wonderful. The part of Mexico where we are, on the southeast coast of the Baja Peninsula, is quite undeveloped and quiet with lots of excellent anchorages. There are many reasons to linger. And since a picture is worth a thousand words. Swimming with the sea lions at Los Islotes was a real. Taking a rest from hiking on the giant chair. Looking...

Sailing Verboten

Adventures sailing "Verboten", our 2001 Catalina Capri 22, in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Saturday, June 21, 2014. Best sailing day ever? Had what may have been our best sailing ever today. Wind was great, Deborah was unfazed, and the boat was apparently tuned just right! The forecast was for about 12 knots, which for Verboten means the main and blade. We set it up and out we went. High 5 knots and 6 knots by GPS on our first run across the lake. That's a good sign! Biggest problem we had all day wa...
