Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Koi at the Japanese section of the botanical garden. There is a vending machine on a bridge over this pond where people can buy food pellets. Now koi are not as dumb as they look. They have learned to congregate under the dispenser with open mouths rising from the water, probably getting some direct hits over the years. Sunday, May 31, 2015. Visitor To The Gateway Geyser. The Gateway Geyser has been on the blog a few times. (Some older pictures here. It's the giant water jet across from the Arch in East St. Louis, Illinois, that pops up exactly as high as the Arch itself (633 feet/192 meters) if the wind isn't too high. You can see what happens if it's gusty. This was taken under the Arch, on top of the stairs down to the Mississippi. The picture would have been okay but then this brilliant bird photobombed my shot.

Saturday, August 8, 2015. It's So Late . . . Midnight here in Anchorage, 3 AM at home, 9 AM in most of Europe. Just got back to the B&B after a 4 hour evening photography tour. Hundreds of pix and no time to edit. I took this one around mid day of locals salmon fishing in Ship Creek in the middle of town. We gotta get to bed but there will be lots more. Sunday, August 9, 2015. Summer sunsets in Alaska linger and linger. We did a walk around downtown Anchorage and a four hour evening van ride with Alaska Photo Treks. Which I highly recommend if you are a shooter and find yourself up this way. The local photographer who took us around, Jody Overstreet. Was wonderful. Monday, August 10, 2015. I took about a zillion pictures of this process. There are lots more good ones I could edit in my spare time. Havent even started on the pix I took earlier Saturday in Seward (anyone want to see puffins? Or the long boat trip we took Sunday down Resurrection Bay and into the Gulf of Alaska, where we saw a glacier that empties right into the ocean, seals, whales and a pod of orcas. Monday, January 11, 2010. From Syracuse. We have a lot of snow here in Central NY. In the city there is about 16 inches, though it will settle over the coming warm (high 30s) spell. There is no snow left on the trees because the sun came out yesterday making a big difference on any surface it hit. I took this yesterday morning twenty miles east of here and 700 feet higher.
