Sunday, August 2, 2015. My almost 4th of July Dress, New Look 6096. Even the best sewing plans can get derailed by time constraints. I decided to sew up a new 4th of July dress on July 2nd. All would have gone well, if packing a family of six for a two week vacation was not also on the to-do list. I finished the dress after the trip, but it still works for the heat wave in Texas. New Look 6096 and Voile border print from Fabric Mart. New Look 6096, Short skirt and peasant top combination. Wow - I did it.

Fit and Construction Changes:. 1 Took out the extra bodice and back height so I could serge a clear elastic waistband inside the dress. See below pictures. 2 Changed the shoulder slope on the back pattern piece. 3 Used a Med size back and a Large on the front to eliminate the FBA. 4 Cut the skirt back on the fold. June 22, 20...

Sunday, May 24, 2015. My New Sewing Studio. I moved from my gorgeous first floor studio to the new and improved second floor dream space. In the last two weeks, I have changed a school/library room to my dream sewing space. Even better that it has TWO huge walk-in closets that are not on the photo tour.). Let me take you on a picture tour:. The center of the room has a huge cutting table with cubbies underneath. New wall decorations inspired by Patchwork and Quilting, Issue 17. So happy with my wall.

Sunday, August 31, 2014. End of Summer, Simplicity 3750. Simplicity 3750 Line Drawings. Simplicity 3750, View E. Rayon challis print from Vogue Fabrics. 1 Lined the straps to give a clean finish to the inside edge. 2 Used bias strip to finish armhole. 3 Attached the belt to the side seams. There was TOO much stress on the belt at the side seam pivot point if the belt was free hanging. If you notice on the pattern cover, it shows six views and states them as easy. Well, it is easy to sew, but fitting.

Saturday, July 25, 2015. Lekala 4352, Summer Linen Dress. Lekala 4352 in fuchsia linen. This is my "wow" dress for the summer. Wow - I finished it. Wow - I did it. Wow - It fits. Wow - I wore it for a special dinner with my husband's company. My Pinterest board for Sewing Inspiration is full of items I would love to sew. Sadly, most will never find their way to my sewing room. This black dress with an interesting neckline did make it to the sewing room. Let me tell you about it. A few notes on the pattern.
