Tuesday, December 31, 2013. The good news is that the snowpack continues to develop above 800 metres or so, the bad news is I haven't seen much of it the last couple of days. The trip to the Hutchinson Hut on Monday. Sorry no crags to be seen. Today was very much white out conditions. Graupel on top of the snowpack at 900 metres. Thursday, February 28, 2013. I suppose the blue skies had to end sometime. The bright start soon clouded over. The freezing level was up around 1200 metres and the lower snow is starting to go. Still good cover from around 600 metres. great to have seen so many ski tourers throughout the Cairngorms and Glenshee hill over the last week, the good news is that there is still great cover and plenty to go at. Monday, April 07, 2014. Cracks, creep lines and cornice remnants. A big lump of snow in the Hidden Corrie at lochnagar had collapsed at some point as you can see by the black stain on the right of the photo below. The visibility has been very poor over the last few days so not sure when it happened. The slope has been creeping for a while on the rock slabs but nothing had happened yet.
