A tribute to Salazar Racing's #325. Car 325 has had a rough life. It was badly wrecked no less than three times. Originally a team member's daily driver and occasional track toy but that ended when a mishap during a drifting competition at Summit Point in 2003 sent it up and over. The springs turned out to be the biggest headache. Apparently for $10 the junk yard doesn't work very hard to ensure you have a matched pair. Five. Block with pistons, head, cam carrier, cams, and a few accessories. We're getting there. Here's a list of what remains of my rebuild project:. Replace cracked vacuum hose to throttle bodies. Replace coolant hoses in engine bay. Re-check tightness of all fasteners/clamps. Place engine on hoist. Fully seat pilot bearing. START CAR, let warm to operating temp. Check for leaks, change fluids. If all checks out, install exhaust. Happy birthday to me! After a too-long hiatus, I've made some good progress!

And you would be correct. Here is some more information about the event that may reinforce what you already suspect. The rules? Find an automobile that can be raced for a 24 hour endurance race that can cost NO MORE than $500 total excluding safety gear.
