It seems lately I am “not allowed” to care about anything without someone saying I care about the wrong thing or that I must also make it clear that I care about something else more. I am not allowed to care about the death of Cecil the lion unless I have already made it clear that I care more about aborted babies or police brutality or the death penalty. Etc, etc., ad nauseam. Want a great existing client to hand them a hot new prospect, right? Unfortunately, I see all too often that sales professionals just don’t ask for referrals. I’ve never met a sales person that loves cold calling, so why do it if you don’t have to? Just look at it this way: cold calling is your punishment for not asking for referrals.
