Or sesame seed paste, well I made my own by first roasting 3 heaps of it on tawa and then making a fine paste by adding olive oil and some water from boiled chickpea. And pinch of sugar. Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Fish head comes in all sizes… and this one was big! Won't really fit anywhere…. as children I remember fish head was the delicacy, given to the new bride or the groom, to the guest of honor I remember spending a good afternoon gorging on parts if not the whole… the eyes was saved for the last and sometimes the little marble left was kept safely. Bengali's have been known to throw in fish everywhere, their meals (sometimes 3 times a day) lunch snack and dinner… all auspicious occasions - wedding et all… and yes they like it from head to toe! Even the fish innards are deep fried and eaten. I did a quick flip of one lying abandoned after a ceremonial alta (vermilion) holud (Turmeric) at my cousin sis's Griha Pravesh {house warming puja literally, with milk boiling and a iron furnace for hom ; holy fire without an (e)}.
