Undercover Cat Lady | the Garment Farmer
https://thegarmentfarmer.wordpress.com/2014/10/25/undercover-cat-lady
Don’t tell my dog, but I’m a total cat lady. It’s not really a secret or anything, but the dog did come first, and she’s the jealous type. For what it’s worth, I’m an absolute dog lover too! We don’t have to choose between our loves, right? Thanks to Erin’s Cat Lady Sewing Challenge. I’m finally throwing up a blog post, and I’m even including three hand-made items. In honor of our cats and all the hours they permit us to spend at our sewing machines, here are my cat themed garments:. There are double lin...

It's not Bragging if you Made It: Romper
http://anelisemadeit.blogspot.com/2015/06/romper.html
It's not Bragging if you Made It. A sewing and cooking blog from the thick of MIT. Wednesday, June 3, 2015. I think so. They're also in-style. I know because I went to a school-sponsored event the other day and a bunch of the girls were wearing them.which probably means they're already on the back-end of trendy. (I'm really out of touch with clothing trends.is that ironic? Or "I know you have senioritis, but don't break out of graduation practice." In Spanish, you see, romper. Everything I used to make t...

It's not Bragging if you Made It: Emergency Dress!
http://anelisemadeit.blogspot.com/2015/03/emergency-dress.html
It's not Bragging if you Made It. A sewing and cooking blog from the thick of MIT. Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Today was the most important day of the school year, because it's the one day of the year we get to wear fancy clothes to school! Our schoolwide celebration of Founder's Day is the one time we get to ditch our boring uniforms for dresses and suits! Some of you might remember it from last year when I made a pair of sparkly separates. Clearly, such an event warrants a new outfit! Aside from the flora...

Snitches Get Stitches: September 2014
http://snitches-get-stitches.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 15, 2014. I spent Saturday sewing up a shirt with some lovely cotton shirting fabric from The Cloth House. On Berwick Street (dangerously close by.) The pattern was made up from an old Jaeger shirt, using the technique which Alice Prier. Teaches at Ray Stitch. It wasn't 100% successful - a bit massive and baggy, but that was sort of. The look I was going for! I'm really into this blue/grey with bright red buttons look! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Sewing Blogs I Love.

Snitches Get Stitches: Tablecloth Brumby skirt
http://snitches-get-stitches.blogspot.com/2015/07/tablecloth-brumby-skirt.html
Monday, July 13, 2015. I went to a wonderful wedding just gone in Norwich, and had my first experience of shape note singing - an a cappella folk hymn singing with its roots in 19th-century America. It was very moving and I loved taking part. And I wore my new Brumby Skirt for the occasion! I absolutely love the fabric, which is a thick, roughish cotton, and the print is also very dear to me. My first exposed zipper - love the look of these, but I definitely need a ton of practise. I cut a size M but the...

New Jeans: Birkin Flares | the Garment Farmer
https://thegarmentfarmer.wordpress.com/2015/11/25/new-jeans-birkin-flares
New Jeans: Birkin Flares. With cold weather creeping in, I knew I needed to make some new jeans ASAP. Just my luck, Lauren of Baste and Gather. Was looking for testers to sew up her Birkin Flares jeans pattern. They looked awesome on her, and I could really use the “dead line” pressure to get some sewing done for myself, so I applied and was selected. Yay :). As soon as time allows, I definitely want to make a couple more pairs! And tagged birkin flares. November 25, 2015. By the Garment Farmer. I love t...

Silk Blouse With Dogs | the Garment Farmer
https://thegarmentfarmer.wordpress.com/2015/03/21/silk-blouse-with-dogs
Silk Blouse With Dogs. When I participated in the Cat Lady Sewing Challenge. I knew I needed a dog sewing challenge too! I was so excited when Tanya announced. I searched high and low, looking at every kind of top and blouse pattern. I checked all the big pattern companies, every indie pattern company I could find, and I scoured Etsy for vintage patterns. And of course I fell in love with a vintage pattern that wasn’t available in my size:. But all that’s behind us now. Now that we’ve done the cat ...

Ikat Hearts and Bluebonnet Fields | the Garment Farmer
https://thegarmentfarmer.wordpress.com/2015/04/14/ikat-hearts-and-bluebonnet-fields
Ikat Hearts and Bluebonnet Fields. This dress is Simplicity 2147. I had two yards of this cotton ikat fabric (only 45″ wide), and I searched high and low for a dress pattern that would work with it. To help conserve fabric, I paired it with a chambray (cotton/linen, I think) for the yoke. My husband confirmed my suspicions that this dress is a total “moo-moo” style, and I’m gonna be wearing it belted until it gets so hot that I no longer care what I look like. April 14, 2015. By the Garment Farmer. I thi...

It's not Bragging if you Made It: February 2015
http://anelisemadeit.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
It's not Bragging if you Made It. A sewing and cooking blog from the thick of MIT. Monday, February 23, 2015. A New Twist on the Turtleneck (and my first Lekala Pattern). This started off with good intentions, I promise. I wanted my next project to be something easy, simple, wearable. A top that I could actually put on on a daily basis. But all that went down the drain as soon as I remembered about Lekala patterns. I learned about Lekala only a little while ago when Anne from The Clothing Engineer. I am ...

Completed: the Miette Cardigan | LLADYBIRD
https://lladybird.com/2012/07/10/completed-the-miette-cardigan
Completed: the Miette Cardigan. I have a confession to make: this cardigan has actually been finished for about a week now. All I had left to do was to sew on the buttons. It is pretty uncharacteristic of me to put off the final touches of a project – I want it to be finished so I can actually wear it! 8211; but this sweater stumped me for about a week. I’m happy to report that I did manage to fix it, though! So now let’s talk about the pattern, and my issues with cotton yarn. This is the Miette. So how ...
