The completed gambeson, very comfy to wear and easy to shoot in. Hot on a sunny day though, but we don't get too many of those in Scotland. A blog dedicated to my 15th century archery project; celebrating the beauty and simplicity of the bow. and having a bit of fun too! Monday, 28 March 2011. On the costume trail again, this time some really handsome bits to hang on my belt. From Tod's Stuff a 'ballock' dagger and a leather pouch from Karl Robinson. So the bowman would perhaps have carried a spare bowstring, beeswax to keep it in good order, maybe arrowheads or a few coins, just all the general bits you'd keep with you. Friday, 18 March 2011.

A blog dedicated to my 15th century archery project; celebrating the beauty and simplicity of the bow. and having a bit of fun too! Thursday, 12 April 2012. Well, I do like to give myself work to do. Purchased an aventail from Get Dressed for Battle. It's a chain mail skirt that fits round the rim of a bascinet helmet to protect the neck and shoulders, usually with leather straps. It's nicely finished and the rings are gun metalled to help protect against Scottish rain. Posted by Graham Hamilton. Medieva...
