Author Archives: Bread and Jêm. June 21, 2012. In South Africa everyone knows and loves rusks, or as we call it in Afrikaans, beskuit. For those who are a bit in the dark, rusks are usually sweet, chunky and crisp re baked bread cut into bite size pieces. The best thing about rusks are that you can add almost anything that takes your fancy. Nuts, seeds, dried fruit, muesli, coconut, chocolate pieces…. In winter I turn into a rusk monster and can gobble up quite a few in one sitting! 30 ml baking powder.
