Wednesday, 25 December 2013. Wednesday 25th December 2013. Lunch eaten, now a choice between toy story 3 or an hour on the patch. Guess which won? As short of time covered the raza and only a bit of the woods. Blue skies with few clouds, sunny and a cold nip. Blue/great/long tailed tits and spotted my first willow tit on the patch. Monday, 3 June 2013. Monday 3rd June 2013. Sunny, warm with a light wind. Robins, blackbirds, blue and great tits all seen busy looking for insects and seen taking back to nests. Male chaffinch and chiffchaff seen singing. Treecreeper x2. The highlight was finding the nuthatch nest. Friday, 18 April 2014. Monday 14th April 2014. Sunny, warm with a light breeze. Usually bunch around. Great tit posing by the old lodge, Chiffchaffs heard around tabletop and Doulton's Clay Pit. Again the usually lot - mallards, coots, great crested grebe and Canada goose. More mallards and moorhens. Monday, 5 May 2014. Monday 5th May 2014. Cloudy with sunny spells and some wind. Fairly quiet. Jay put up a brief but good show, nuthatches feeding their young, in the same nest as last year. Again quiet. Coots, male mallards, 3 great crested grebes, herring and lesser backed gulls. More male mallards and 1 female, moorhens and 2 Canada geese. Include bluebells - thousands of them. Saturday, 20 July 2013. Saturday 20th July 2013. Sunny, warm with light wind. Fairly quite on the bird front, but lots of insects about. Usually suspects including treecreepers and swifts. Chiffchaff, moorhen with juvenile. Three Mallard ducklings still doing well. Rat also seen. Mallards, coots, black-headed gulls, herring gulls, lesser and greater-black backed gulls. Carrion crows, chiffchaff, greenfinch. Also lots of common blue damselflies, ( 3 joined pairs ) and a southern hawker.
