Dos Extranjeros En Madrid: December 2008
http://steveandamandainmadrid.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Dos Extranjeros En Madrid. Wednesday, December 10, 2008. We arrived in Dublin on Saturday evening, only to realize that the nice guest house. I booked us must have been full, since our 10:30pm arrival put us in a room that must have been the servants quarters. This was fine, albeit cold at 3am, when it was 6-below zero (Celsius) and the heat didn't work. We switched rooms the next day! I am not much of a history buff, but Irish history is really fascinating. We had a fabulous dinner at the Winding Stair.

This is the first Thanksgiving we have spent without at least one of our families, which is sad. But we have purchased a 10-pound, fresh bird and we have all the proper accoutrements for a great day of cooking and feasting! All times Central European).

Dos Extranjeros En Madrid. Thursday, November 13, 2008. Saved by the Internet. We just booked our first travel for a country that speaks English. We will be going to Dublin, from December 6-9 and are extremely excited! If anyone will be in Ireland over that time, let's meet up and have a pint! I would like to thank the person who created this security feature on shopping websites.*. This was probably Al Gore. Wow, you guys saved about $800 by doing your homework! Dos Extranjeros En Madrid: Tom & Nancy's Visit
http://steveandamandainmadrid.blogspot.com/2008/11/tom-nancys-visit.html
Dos Extranjeros En Madrid. Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Tom and Nancy's Visit. A bit overdone for armor, no? Note that Tom has become a fan of Europeans' use of "no? At the end of sentences, to make them into questions. It is quite fun, no? Despite the long-winded armor description, it was a fun visit. The four of us were able to travel to Segovia for a day-trip on Wednesday. We took the high-speed train, and arrived in Segovia in 25 minutes. Easy! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Dos Extranjeros En Madrid: Valencia
http://steveandamandainmadrid.blogspot.com/2008/11/valencia.html
Dos Extranjeros En Madrid. Monday, November 10, 2008. As I previously mentioned, Amanda and I spent the past weekend in Valencia, a very prosperous town on the central Mediterranean coast of Spain. I think I can speak for Amanda when I say we were pleasantly surprised with Valencia. The food was great; the people were extremely gracious; the weather was beautiful; and the architecture was a stunning combination of late-Renaissance and futuristic strangeness. City of Arts and Sciences). We didn't end ...

Dos Extranjeros En Madrid: Random weekend postings
http://steveandamandainmadrid.blogspot.com/2008/11/random-weekend-postings.html
Dos Extranjeros En Madrid. Sunday, November 2, 2008. Steve and I stayed in Madrid this weekend, to relax a bit between visitors. Jeff and Stephanie left on Friday, and we had a great visit with them. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible during their whole visit. Despite that, we managed a day trip to Toledo, which was very nice. But very hilly! Starting out our lazy weekend, Steve and I discovered another GREAT Mexican restaurant called Tacubaya. On Saturday, we booked our tickets to Rome! The Spanish...

Dos Extranjeros En Madrid: January 2009
http://steveandamandainmadrid.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Dos Extranjeros En Madrid. Thursday, January 1, 2009. It is lonely here now! Our school (yes, we had school here) ended the day after our friends left, so we had a big dinner party with friends from school. School certainly wasn't the highlight of this trip, but I will miss some of the people we met. It was a very interesting group and I truly hope to see some of these folks again in the future. My family arrived the next day and we had a great visit! I will definitely be sad to leave Madrid, but now tha...

Dos Extranjeros En Madrid: Los Idiomas de Espana
http://steveandamandainmadrid.blogspot.com/2008/09/las-idiomas-de-espana.html
Dos Extranjeros En Madrid. Sunday, September 28, 2008. Los Idiomas de Espana. For a country of its geographic size, Spain has a relatively high number of languages. The language most often used is Castellano (what most Americans- and even Spaniards- think of as "Spanish"). However, there are many other languages that Spaniards use in various regions. These are actually separate languages, not simply different dialectics. The region Amanda and I just visited, Catalunya. Which has a language named Euskera.
