While out and about, I stumbled into some great finds in the ewaste bins! I found a 19in Philips LCD TV and (2) late 1980's camcorders. I'll post a fix it guide for the LCD TV shortly, but for now, Lets focus on salvaging those camcorders! I found a canon and a Ricoh camcorder, both which use HI-8. the Canon is apparently Canon's first in-house built camcorder. Another side by side comparison. Here's a close up on the Ricoh. Gosh how cameras have progressed.

After looking through my regular selections of tech websites, I came across something that could dramatically aid my soldering work. A soldering magnifier. I found this image here: http:/ hexus.net. Basically, you can use a magnifier like this one to inspect for defects in PCB design and diagnois issues in problematic electronics. In addition, I will use traditional connectors to connect the two PCB's, such as RCA cables. There will also be a standard 1/8 in DC power jack to power the LED backlight.

Here's a side profile of the light spectrometer. This is view from the back. this thing is really built well! Even the belt pullies are made of aluminum! Panasonic GH1 Shutter Fix. Important note: Make sure you have some type of adhesive tape nearby to put screws on. it makes your life a whole bunch easier. Also, avoid working in a carpeted environment, as finding screws on a carpet tends to be difficult and annoying. Regardless of where you are working, make sure you are grounded when working on electronics! Why didn't they get the camera repaired at an electronics repair shop? Besides that, the camera looked flawless!
