水曜日, 6月 25, 2008. 今日もコロラドの山奥、デュランゴという町にて撮影をしております。昨日訪れた場所が気になって今日は、1番列車から3番列車まで3本を同じ橋で狙ってみました。鉄橋を渡る時に石炭を焚くボイラーの底に溜まっている水垢や泥を吐き出すために、水蒸気の圧力で一挙に吐き出しお掃除をすることを「ブロウダウン」と言います。18気圧から20気圧以上の水蒸気の圧力で放出するので通常の場所では危険なので、鉄橋の上で思いきり吐き出すのがお約束となっており、そのシーンが鉄橋を渡る蒸気機関車を魅力的なものにしてくれます。というわけで、本日は3連発のブロウダウン・シーンをどうぞ. 最後の2枚は、ブロウダウンの直撃を受け、全身ずぶ濡れになってしまったところです。水蒸気の勢いはまるで、自動車の洗車マシンの中に体を入れたような感覚で（本当にしたんかい、と突っ込まれそうですが）、最初の感覚はマズイひょっとしたら全身火傷で病院送りかと思ったのだけれど、実は冷水シャワーのごとく冷たくて気持ち...火曜日, 6月 24, 2008. 日本の鉄道ならあり得ない（後続列車が来るのに本線をスピーダーが逆走する...
