An American among Aymaras: January 2007
http://laurainperu.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
An American among Aymaras. Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Not the greatest month for a researcher. Frustrating is the word of the month. Okay, I will admit that I am rather OCD with my scheduling and time management. In college, I was that girl who had her schedule down to the hour:. 8am-wake up and eat breakfast. 9am- run for 30 minutes. 10am-shower and study for macro test. I actually had a boyfriend who once got mad at me for scheduling him into my day. Whoops. Laura Kurland's year in Puno, Peru. Initia...

So, we had to check out his restaurantsssss in Lima. Yesterday we had breakfast/lunch in his sandwich shop. Tonight I leave for Washington, D.C. and wil...Peruv...

An American among Aymaras: change of travel plans
http://laurainperu.blogspot.com/2008/10/change-of-travel-plans.html
An American among Aymaras. Tuesday, October 07, 2008. Change of travel plans. Let me just start off with the moral of the story before I actually get to the story: when traveling in Peru, ask each and every day if there is going to be a. Or road blockade/strike and figure out the best alternative to get where you have to go. I was suppose to fly out from Puno to Lima on Tuesday, the 7th. Last Saturday night, Qiqe's mom tells me to call the airline, LAN, ASAP because there is going to be a. IRPA’s m...

An American among Aymaras: highway turned race track
http://laurainperu.blogspot.com/2008/09/highway-turned-race-track.html
An American among Aymaras. Monday, September 22, 2008. Highway turned race track. The bus left on schedule at 10:00 am. I assumed things would go smoothly, especially as the bus was more than half full with tourists. We got about 30 minutes outside of Arequipa, on the hot, dessert outskirts of the city, when the bus was pulled over by the highway police. That meant, instead of getting into Puno around 3pm we'd arrive, at the earliest, 9pm or 10pm! Strikes, road blocks, etc. never are good for transpo...
