KyusiReader: June 2014
http://kyusireader.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 30, 2014. On a reading high. So last Sunday, we decided to stay at home and just catch up on whatever stuff that needs catching up on. For me of course, that would have to be reading. As I slept at 8 pm last Saturday night, I woke up at 3 am, logged on to Facebook (goodness, 390 likes for that photo! Checked my emails and downloadables, and started reading this latest novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Americanah. And then I checked the clock on my wall. It was already 8 am! That novel insta...

KyusiReader: June 2015
http://kyusireader.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Because it's Pride Month! Because this 1978 novel is groundbreaking. Because there's a sexy Winston cigarette man. Because it's a study of excess, and like all things excessive, it's heartbreaking to know what will happen later, when all things bright, care-free, pleasurable, and orgasmic come crashing down because of disease. Ah, Faggots. I couldn't recommend you enough. You still need a box of tissue, but for a different kind of body fluid. Wink, wink. The 1970s was quite hedo...

KyusiReader: July 2015
http://kyusireader.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Why my fingers hurt like hell recently. Some of the coloring stuff that I use. The watercolors are actually R's. I still don't trust myself with a paintbrush. So that's the way it is during weekends. Saturdays are for all the coloring shiz. Sundays are for reading. Just enough time to have my fingers recover and let them help me do money-making stuff on the weekdays (i.e., work). Last Saturday's get-together turned into an impromptu coloring party. See, there is. We agreed that he...

KyusiReader: Why you should never, ever join a book club
http://kyusireader.blogspot.com/2015/07/why-you-should-never-ever-join-book-club.html
Thursday, July 23, 2015. Why you should never, ever join a book club. Warning: This post contains some pictures taken a few years ago. So be prepared to see more than a few pics of a chubby KyusiReader. You've been warned. The books that we talked about for the past 4 years. The big picture on the left is this year's selections. The three smaller pictures on the right are from 2012 (top) to 2014 (bottom). During our Noli Me Tangere. How shallow can these people get? Stupid parties . . . Oh, the humanity!

KyusiReader: February 2015
http://kyusireader.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 11, 2015. There's no such thing as . . . Last night, it dawned on me. I just have a lot of books scattered around in my room. The above photo doesn't even do justice to the sheer number. My guess is that it just shows a fourth of what I have. What I have is a happy mess. And what I need are more bookshelves. Like now. With the way things are, the bed in my room just seems an afterthought. It's no longer a bedroom. Posted by Peter S. Links to this post. Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Which...

KyusiReader: August 2015
http://kyusireader.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 28, 2015. Why I'm still at it. I'm talking about coloring, that is. It's been a while since I had a hobby that I truly enjoyed. And let me just tell you that I am really into this coloring shiz. Bring on those coloring materials! And I never realized that there are so many kinds of coloring materials out there. Colored pencils, colored pencils with watercolors, markers, fine liners, blending sticks, shading pencils, gel pens, glitter pens, metallic pens. Oy! It's a craft maker's wet dream!

KyusiReader: December 2014
http://kyusireader.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 1, 2014. A meet-and-greet with one of my favorite graphic novelists. If you're free this weekend, do drop by at Fully Booked to see Arnold Arre and hear him talk about his much beloved graphic novel, The Mythology Class. I've read The Mythology Class several years ago, and I distinctly remember being blown away by it. It's one of those works that you treasure and you recommend to your friends. Am I getting another copy? Posted by Peter S. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

KyusiReader: September 2014
http://kyusireader.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 15, 2014. Book hunting for 2015. A work in progress. Before the year ends, the book club finalizes its lineup of the books to be discussed for next year. But for this year, I believe we just set a record. For the first time, we've picked the books for 2015 in July! And to think we still have 5 months to go before the year ends! Out of the 10 books for 2015, I found 4 novels in my shelves: Galbraith's The Cuckoo's Calling. Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go. Kwan's Crazy Rich Asians. Even though...

KyusiReader: Why read Edith Wharton's The House of Mirth
http://kyusireader.blogspot.com/2015/07/why-read-edith-whartons-house-of-mirth.html
Monday, July 20, 2015. Why read Edith Wharton's The House of Mirth. One can usually tell if a book is a favorite by having multiple copies of it. The top one has foxed, but it's a beloved copy. I read The House of Mirth. Twice using that old edition. Sometimes, I just wish that I were filthy rich. Wait, who am I kidding? So let me rephrase: All the time. I just wish that I were filthy rich. In life, all you really need is 100 million dollars. Damn tight, these folks are. But the novel ended so tragically...
