Dyeing with avocado pips. We heated the dye bath (leaving the dyestuff in) and yarn and waited patiently as the fibres took up the dye… but the end results were unspectacular shades of beige- after seeing and hearing all about the pinks and rusts that other people were achieving, we were more than a bit disappointed. After washing and squirrelling away the pips for months, I turned my back on avocados as a dye ; ). Other than that, I just let it do its thing. Preparing the pips for soaking. If you’...

Textile display at the weekly handmade markets. March 1, 2011. My stall display at the Old Bus Depot Markets has really evolved over the last year. Vilte nuno felt workshop in the Blue Mountains. June 14, 2012. I recently travelled to Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains for a three-day nuno felt workshop with Vilte, a Lithuanian feltmaker. On the way I called into the wonderful Sensational Silks warehouse in western Sydney to choose some silk chiffon, gauze and Paj suitable for nuno felting. Of course I was very tempted to buy a lot more silk there, but this will have to wait for next time. Steps in a bush track. Eucalypts in the early morning.

The craft sessions v2.0 →. February 25, 2014. I recently tried out my macro lens for the first time. So much fun getting lost in the tiny details of life but so much to learn and I definitely need a tripod. I’m thinking of doing a course covering the basics of photography as I know nothing about manual settings and basic photographic language but there are so many out there- I’d really appreciate any advice from anyone with experience and opinions about good teachers and courses…. Lovely photo’s, m...
