The Sampson County History Museum is located in Downtown Clinton, 313 Lisbon Street, Clinton NC 28328. Thursday through Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Free Admission. Donations are greatly appreciated. There is ample parking in front of the main building as well as on the side of the museum. This building was constructed about 1903. It houses the medical exhibit, the Coharie Indian exhibit, an old-timey kitchen, antique wooden post office display, and a display commemorating some of the county’s outstanding African- Americans. Formation of a Sampson County Historical Society became a reality on Tues. night, Feb 20, 1979 when 21 persons met at the Dr. Small House in Clinton and voted to go ahead with the project. The formation of the Society, long talked about in Sampson County, grew out of a class in Sampson History taught by Claude Moore, Professor of History at Mt. Olive College. He was also considered the Sampson County Historian at that time.
