http://www.samwebbve.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Friday, 28 November 2008. James finished the design of the Reggae A and went onto to create the stage area. I created the eyes for the person using a small sphere using the sphere tool I moved the eye into place and used the mirror tool to create a copy of for the second eye. I created the mouth using the line tool to create the shape of mouth and used the move tool to place the mouth into place on the face. Friday, 21 November 2008. James finished creating the DJ C and went on to designing Reggae A in M...

Virtual Environment: Week 6: 3D Face

http://www.samwebbve.blogspot.com/2008/10/week-6-3d-face.html

Friday, 31 October 2008. Week 6: 3D Face. I created the nostrils by first creating two new splines then using Extrude and Move tool to move the splines up the nosre to create the nostril, I found this a bit tempromental as Maxs started to play up and freeze. I used the Snap toggle and vertex seltion on the Sphere and soft select to connet the top of the head with the face, I found this difficult to do with the line off being slightly out between the face mesh and sphere. I created the lips similar to the...

Virtual Environment: Week11 YMCA

http://www.samwebbve.blogspot.com/2008/12/week11-ymca.html

Friday, 5 December 2008. The animation for Punky Y was simple it was just Punky Y head banging a few times on the stage. I then went on to animate DJ C I did the same thing as I did for Punky Y by clicking on auto key then going to a frame and moving the DJ C using the move and rotate tool and then setting the frame. Again this took a long time to do but I didn’t want to do anything too complicated or it may or made it look wrong. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Virtual Environment: Week 9 YMCA

http://www.samwebbve.blogspot.com/2008/11/week-9-ymca.html

Friday, 21 November 2008. I finished styling the hair for Punky Y but I couldn’t get too much of a style of the hair but I tried my best but a styling hair takes a long time, and it takes a long time to render in Maxs so I left it how it is. Once happy with the bones I moved the bones using the move tool into Punky Y, once the bones were in place I selected the Punky Y and selected a skin modify from the modifier menu, on the skin menu in Parameters I added the bones by clicking on the add button then se...

Virtual Environments 2008: Tutorial 8 - Ear Creation

http://virtualenvironments2008.blogspot.com/2008/10/tutorial-8-ear-creation.html

Wednesday, 22 October 2008. Tutorial 8 - Ear Creation. A very difficult piece of geometry and very complex. Use a similar method that we did for the face for the ear. Load reference image, and define some key areas. From this point we want to start drawing in the topology, same idea as before, connecting the lines, and making new ones. Create the necessary quads. Don’t worry about making this too complex. Take this into 3D Max and start sculpting the ear. Look at the reference image, edge mode, select th...

http://virtualenvironments2008.blogspot.com/2008/10/uv-co-ordinates-part-2.html

Wednesday, 29 October 2008. UV Co-ordinates part 2. Ideally we would like to fit the ear into the gap for the ear in the face map. However just using a 3D painting tool we could easily place the ear somewhere else. Lets just clean up the results a little bit. What you want to avoid in your UV layout is avoid ambiguous quads. http://virtualenvironments2008.blogspot.com/2008/10/tutorial-6-refining-model-nose.html

Wednesday, 22 October 2008. Tutorial 6 - Refining Model (the nose). Refining organic models with Edit Poly. How to add details to your model. Switch to the front view and maximise so we can access the nose area. We are going to add some additional faces. In vertex mood, we follow the loop around and there is a hard seam between the tip of the nose and the nostrils. We go to edge mode and hit backspace which will remove an edge. If you delete you remove the whole polygon. We are going to create the nasal ...

Need to line these up, vertex mode turn on snap, we want to configure our snap option as vertex, and now we go to move tool and click and drag to various points. Line up the closest ones first. Thanks go to our guest judge for the week Miranda Kate (@PurpleQueenNL) and as always to Stevie McCoy (@Theglitterlady) who puts this together every week. And as a bonus this week Miranda Kate picked 4 honorable mentions instead of the usual 3. I shall do a little happy dance now. Then go for a pointe shoe fitting. No, not on me – it’s my crazy kids!
