An Englishman in Dubai. A little blog about life as an expat in dubai. Sunday, October 21, 2007. An action packed weekend has left me with the odd sensation of the the end of week break being entirely too long. To take it in reverse, there were a lot of bleary eyed expats walking around the city this morning in the wake of late night watching the Rugby World Cup Final. Early in the weekend I took my guests Anna and Matt out for the classic day trip to Hatta Pools with a stop at the Hatta Fort Hotel for a...

An Englishman in Dubai: How Much?
http://an-englishman-in-dubai.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-much.html
An Englishman in Dubai. A little blog about life as an expat in dubai. Saturday, November 10, 2007. Over the long summer in Dubai with not much to do but shelter from the blistering heat I was wondering how nice it would be to live in the UK again. Although now with the weather changing I am super happy in Dubai. Never the less it still irked me as to why I missed the UK. 1 Petrol - 103p for one liter of unleaded fuel. That is the equivalent of over $8 a gallon where it is about $1.80 in the UAE. Still -...

An Englishman in Dubai: Touch Me, Feel Me
http://an-englishman-in-dubai.blogspot.com/2007/10/touch-me-feel-me.html
An Englishman in Dubai. A little blog about life as an expat in dubai. Thursday, October 25, 2007. Touch Me, Feel Me. The advent of the iPhone has generated more blog postings and technology column inches than any other single item of technology in recent memory. To this end - while I will inevitably end up with an iPhone - I really want an authorised product that I can update with all the new features apple will undoubtedly release as firmware/software updates. I put the purchase on ice for now. If you ...

An Englishman in Dubai. A little blog about life as an expat in dubai. Friday, November 30, 2007. Despite living on Wimbledon Park Road for nearly two years when I was working in London, I had never got the chance to actually ever watch any live professional tennis. When I got a call from a good friend last Saturday afternoon asking if I wanted to go to the " The Legends Rock Dubai. Tennis tournament I jumped at the chance. Sadly Stich lost in a competitve yet friendly match. Then after, we were all ...

An Englishman in Dubai. A little blog about life as an expat in dubai. Sunday, May 20, 2007. I have been in two minds if to post about this or not. I finally decided to, mainly as it was such a fun event for everyone who attended, despite how ridiculous I look in the photo below. Here I am with Reg "The Bearded Lady", my make-up was courtesy of the ever talented Mrs Saul:. The Circus themed party was the latest in a long line of theme parties that Duncan (my soon to be new villa-mate. I loved Matt's "The...

Monday, March 19, 2007. The Bandwagon of Nobility. I am jumping on with both feet and er, the rest of me too. I went to Ross on Saturday night. I knew it would be good (no, not because of my tarot reading, but I will tell you all about that before long too), so was going in with high expectations. Let me tell you the story. [cue fade]. Ross was hysterical too. (That was the point. My work here is done - for now.). Posted by WJ @ 3/19/2007 10:29:00 am. Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Flicks, eats and ...

Wednesday, February 21, 2007. Big Boats and Little Pleasures. You should know that I don't actually spend that much time on the titles to these pieces. Shocking I know. They are fucking cruise ships. Big, ugly, floating Vegas Hotels for very well to do types who can't be arsed having a real holiday. On to other things now (I feel better already). I am aware that this next bit is set up for fingers and Mel to hit out of the park, I am hoping they will do so with suitable panache. Tuesday, February 13, 2007.

Nevertheless, last night it was done. It isn't particularly easy to get extended periods of time off work, so I would prefer to save the bulk of my leave for when she can take a break too. What about your folks?
